Wishlist Wednesday: Hipstamatic and an iPhone

If I could, I’d be an early adopter. I’d buy the latest gadgets as they came out because the new technology fascinates me. I’ve had a ball using my iPod Touch, but today I’m bummed because there’s not a camera in it and I can’t use all the cool apps that go along with it.

Today I wish I had an iPhone, ever since a colleague showed me Hipstamatic, which was recently one of iTunes’ apps of the week. I’ve also noticed several artistic Hipstamatic shots appearing on Facebook.

It appears that with the $1.99 app, you can take your photography back to the 1970s or ’80s and add any number of special effects and lenses to give your photos a retro feel or to add artistic touches to the photos you take. You can also buy additional “Hipstapaks” for more features. All of those come with multiple lenses wtih names like “Helga Viking” and “Roboto Glitter.”

I’m not trying to sell the app; I just wish I could use it. Although I’m perfectly happy with the camera — and flash — that comes on my mobile phone, I’d love to be having as much fun with photo apps that are only available from Apple right now.
