All aboard Big Truck Tacos
The big truck behind Big Truck Tacos has already been out on a few test runs, so now it’s time to open the doors to its headquarters. Big Truck Tacos, 530 NW 23, isĀ open this morning for breakfast, lunch and early dinner.
Tacos will be served on Serapio’s tortillas with fillings like lengua, buffalo piccadill, pork chile verde, coffee-rubbed skirt steak, house-made chorizo, tilapia with jicama slaw, and vegetarian bean. Other than tacos, they will offer gorditas, tortas, burritos, huevos rancheros, migas, tortas and quesadillas.
Serving fresh homemade salsas, the home base will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. with the truck venturing out evenings. You can follow the truck’s route via Twitter (BigTruckTacos) and facebook (search Big Truck Tacos).

oh come on – who in their right mind would go to LUNCH on the first operating day of the most anticipated restaurant to hit okc since….ever….and expect it to be any different than it was? seriously, okc, this is how it is in places that you want your city to be more like. so calm down, go get your homemade pizzas, and plan to return next week after you hear how awesome it was for those smart enough to hit ‘off hours’.
How do we get in touch? Other than FACEBOOK or TWITTER (I don’t get those things—not my age genre I guess. Do they have land line phone or cell phone or internet web site (other than FACEBOOK or TWITTER–how do those work?)
The food was wonderful. Went in two days after opening day and I waited less than fifteen minutes to order and get my tacos, and this was during lunchtime. The building itself made me feel like I was back in Austin and the tacos could stand up to all of the taquerias we had down there.
Go back in the late afternoon Ryan. This isn’t Chilis and the food is worth the wait.
I had BTT this past Monday and it was okay. I was happy with the CJ’s pork tacos, but not the steak skirt taco. Also, the burrito with pork was so-so. The meat was great but the beans and cheese did not let me enjoy the perfectly cooked pork.
Overall, good but not great. I will go back and try other items on the menu.
Ok I’m ready for a taco right now. I love tacos, when I was in the army stationed in Korea that is all I could think about was a taco with not one in sight anywhere.
yeah its kind of asking a lot to go to a Taco Shop (keep in mind the word SHOP, because it isnt that big AT ALL) on opening day at lunch and expect to be in and out. Maybe should have waited a day or two. I go there atleast 2 times a week (and have since they have been open) and it has never taken as long as the first poster said it took. Granted, it does take a little longer when you show up at the peak of the lunch rush (12:00pm-12:30pm) but it doesnt take 45 minutes to get your food, I cant tell you that. The food is delicious and it is different from the usual taco. It is a nice change.
Went by for lunch, and arrived just in time for the bull to hit the fan. Waited 12 minutes to place my order, followed by another 45 minutes of waiting for my order. In that time, many impatient people asked for a refund, or just walked out. Some were given refunds out of sympathy because the manager saw how long they had waited. I’m a patient person, but I too decided to bail out after 45 minutes passed with no sign of my tacos in sight.
Granted, it’s opening day, but this is grotesquely inappropriate for any restaurant, considering I could have ordered a pizza, and had it made from scratch in the time it took for me to decide to leave. Seriously, how long does it actually take to grill chicken and place it in a flour tortilla?
So this is not all negative, there were some things I saw crawl out of the kitchen that looked very good, including quesadillas and guacamole. But having to look from afar and not partake became a chore after time.
I usually have a 30 day rule when it comes to new restaraunts opening. I guess we’ll try again in 29 days. Maybe then, my order will be ready.
