		<description>This site is so interesting! First of all, I grew up in Galesburg Illinois and knew Bea and Bernard Shimmel quite well. We socialized in the same groups. Almost every day, I would go to The Custer Hotel--Bernard&#039;s domain. He was
a true genius. Every meal and party I ever went to that
was prepped by Bernard, equalled anything I ever had elsewhere in the world. How I miss those days. It will never be the same. I especially loved his warm, straight from the oven, cinnamon pecan coffee cake. I make it often and it&#039;s everyone&#039;s favorite. With kind regards,
