TOMS Shoes … helping children in need

TOMS Shoes

TOMS Shoes

I love the idea behind TOMS Shoes. Buy a pair of shoes and one pair is donated to children in need. My column today was about TOMS Shoes and founder Blake Mycoskie, but there is so much more to know about this man and his mission.

Here’s a picture I snapped of Jayme Hale, left, and Eden Turrentine at the Dallas Market Center during the March apparel and accessories market. Jayme is the owner of Allyson’s Closet and Eden is the buyer. What you see in the background is the market center. There’s a big atrium in the middle. I think we were on the 14th or 15th floor.

Wiggle your pedicured piggies into these metallic sandals

Mossimo ruffle wedge sandal from Target. We were photographing spring clothes last week, and the model pulled out of her shoe bag the cutest pair of pewter wedge sandals. “Do these look like Target shoes?” she asked.

Not hardly, and that’s not a slam against Target shoes. These are big time stylish and fashion forward. Since I had to go to Target that evening (honest, I really needed a can of L’Oreal Elnett hairspray),  I looked for the shoes. Only had two pairs left, so that should be a pretty good endorsement.  I did see plenty of other smart styles, too.

Online comments are very favorable about this shoe. Even the faux leather looks good. The wedge sandals cost $29.99, and I must say this picture doesn’t do them justice.  They look so much better in person. My only hang-up is that I prefer leather.

Check out this other cute sandal by Mossimo.  I hope the weather cooperates this week. It’s time to get out of closed-in pumps and into strappy sandals.

Kate Hudson … her hairstyle and hair products

Actress Kate Hudson

Actress Kate Hudsdon

Plenty of women are envious of actress Kate Hudson’s soft waves and slightly disheveled hair.  No need to be jealous anymore.

Maybe she owes it all to the products she uses. Hudson’s haircare line is David Babaii for WildAid. In 2007 Hollywood hairstylist Babaii created his own haircare line with Kate Hudson to promote WildAid’s conservation efforts.

The products are an exclusive blend of exotic natural ingredients free of sulfates, parabens, animal products and animal testing.  A percentage of sales goes to WildAid. The hair care line is  eco-friendly and cruelty free.

Products cost $12.99 or less and are available at SallyBeauty.com.

Babaii shares these tips and productsto get Hudson’s sexy beach waves:

1. Wash with Amplifying Shampoo and Conditioner, named Best Green Hair Care in InStyle magazine’s 2009 Best Beauty Buys.

2. Spray your whole head with Bohemian Beach Spray, a finalist in the CEW 2009 Beauty Insiders Choice Awards. (Winners will be announced May 1.)

3. Scrunch or twist sections before drying or allowing to air dry.

4. To set it all in place, lightly spray your hair with Mise en Plis Extra Hold Styling Spray, which New Beauty magazine named a 2009 Reader’s Favorite.
