Jeans (and more) that change a woman’s body?

shapefxwide-leg-jeans.jpgMany women struggle trying to find jeans that flatter their body. This isn’t a new problem, but at least more manufacturers are addressing women’s concerns.

Shape fx offers jeans (and other clothes) that flatten the tummy and sculpt the rear, according to the company. Inside the jeans is a hidden power-pesh panty that slims the tummy, trims the hips and lifts and shapes the rear, eliminating the need for shapewear pieces. There’s also a shirred back seam for a natural-looking and toned effect.

The newest style is wide-leg, but there are also boot-cut, classic and curvy styles. The wide-leg jean retails for $59 to $64 and is available in average, petite, tall and women’s sizing.

Shape fx also offers dresses, suits, jersey knits,  skirts, swimwear and pants, all with built-in control. The company says the clothes are “designed to make the body you have look like the body you want.”

Another plus — the prices are good. Most pants range from $49 to $54. The no-bra-bulge control dress costs $69 to $79.

The Web site is easy to move through, and categories allow you to shop by target zone, figure type or clothing category.

Give the Web site a look. I’m really impressed. I don’t order much online because I always like to touch the fabric, but I think I’ll take a risk on a pair of pants or jeans.

shapefxsweater.jpgA couple of months I wrote about a Web site that offers custom jeans (at twice the price of these), and I had planned to order a pair of those this fall. I think I’ll hold off until I see if I like these.

Go to shapefx.com and let me know what you think.

FYI: Shape fx is part of the Spiegel family.

One pair of custom-made jeans, please

I tend to put off shopping for jeans until I’m desperate. It’s just not fun for me, and I think shopping — especially for clothes — should be fun.

I get frustrated with styles and fabrics. Jeans either fit in the waist and no where else or vice versa. Stretch is my friend, but some brands have too much and they don’t fit correctly. I want the perfect pair of jeans. At a good price, of course.

indiDenim (www.indidenim.com) may be the answer. It’s a custom denim jeans brand that allows you to order custom-made jeans. All the styles are personalized and customized to the smallest detail.

indiDenim offers both men’s and women’s custom jeans with many variations from which to choose. The new Presido trouser jean is one of three styles available for women, along with a fitted style (the SoMa) and a relaxed style (the Noe).

The custom process seems easy enough. After selecting a style, you choose a fabric color, finish, rise, leg style, back pocket and special finishes such as sanding and distressing. A pattern is made based on your measurements and the answers to a few questions.

Jeans are shipped in about four weeks and each pair costs between $135 and $145.

If the jeans don’t fit correctly, they can returned for a full refund.

I’m thinking about getting a pair. Has anyone ordered from this company before?
