Two new limited-edition collections are coming to Target stores.

Relix Rey for Target is a handbag collection designed by accessories designers Lily Band and Sulaika Zarrouk.  Prices range from $19.99 to $49.99. The collection landed in stores today and will be on shelves until June 14.

The collection is inspired by the beach, with clutches, totes and oversized bucket bags in canvas and straw.  Gold shell trinm, studs and toggles, as well patent and metallic trim, add a heap of sophistication.

Other styles feature oversize rickrack prints that mimic ocean waves.

Target also collaborated with footwear designer Trish Carroll for the Miss Trish of Capri for Target collection, in stores April 5 through July 5.

The sandals are jewel-encrusted, inspired by the blue sea and sandy beaches. Prices range from $29.99 to $34.99.

Get real — this croc tote is $11,300

zagliani-crocodile-tote_edited-1.jpg

Maybe it’s just me, but I’m thinking this extravagant insider pick from Saks.com just doesn’t fit with the economic situation in the United States. The world, actually.

Terron Schaefer, senior vice president of creative and marketing, selected a Zagliani crocodile tote as a favorite pick for Valentine’s Day. No doubt, this is a beautiful tote.  It’s described as a stunning, generously sized tote in exotic crocodile with a luxe matte finish and lots of inside pockets. Designed by dermatologist Mauro Orrietti-Carella, the exotic skins have been injected with silicone for a buttery soft, luxurious feel.

The cost: $11,300. Now that’s big-time money even when the economy is great. But now? It just seems ridiculous, especially when it’s listed as a Valentine’s Day pick.

What was your favorite gift?

One of my favorite gifts this year is the new handbag that my daughter gave me. (Of course, we’ll get the bill for it, but that’s another story.)

It’s a black hobo style with brushed gold detail and a single strap. It’s by Tracy Reese, who always delivers one of my favorite runway shows in New York. She’s known for feminine, flirty clothes, but I haven’t really seen many of her bags.  My daughter Stephanie said she picked it up for about one-fifth the price that was on the retailer’s tag. Such a deal!

She got it at Tuesday Morning.  I’ll pay closer attention to the handbags next time I’m there.

Anyway, what was your favorite gift? Share.
