Wiggle your pedicured piggies into these metallic sandals
We were photographing spring clothes last week, and the model pulled out of her shoe bag the cutest pair of pewter wedge sandals. “Do these look like Target shoes?” she asked.
Not hardly, and that’s not a slam against Target shoes. These are big time stylish and fashion forward. Since I had to go to Target that evening (honest, I really needed a can of L’Oreal Elnett hairspray), I looked for the shoes. Only had two pairs left, so that should be a pretty good endorsement. I did see plenty of other smart styles, too.
Online comments are very favorable about this shoe. Even the faux leather looks good. The wedge sandals cost $29.99, and I must say this picture doesn’t do them justice. They look so much better in person. My only hang-up is that I prefer leather.
Check out this other cute sandal by Mossimo. I hope the weather cooperates this week. It’s time to get out of closed-in pumps and into strappy sandals.

New accessories collections at Target

Miss Trish of Capri metallic sandal with lion's head detail, $29.99, at Target.

- Bali straw fish basket in navy/gold by Felix Rey, $39.99, at Target.
Two new limited-edition collections are coming to Target stores.
Relix Rey for Target is a handbag collection designed by accessories designers Lily Band and Sulaika Zarrouk. Prices range from $19.99 to $49.99. The collection landed in stores today and will be on shelves until June 14.
The collection is inspired by the beach, with clutches, totes and oversized bucket bags in canvas and straw. Gold shell trinm, studs and toggles, as well patent and metallic trim, add a heap of sophistication.
Other styles feature oversize rickrack prints that mimic ocean waves.
Target also collaborated with footwear designer Trish Carroll for the Miss Trish of Capri for Target collection, in stores April 5 through July 5.
The sandals are jewel-encrusted, inspired by the blue sea and sandy beaches. Prices range from $29.99 to $34.99.

Liz Claiborne for spring … it’s a new Liz

Floral skirt and sweater by Liz Claiborne for spring 2009.
Have you seen the new Liz Claiborne collection for spring, the first one designed by Isaac Mizrahi? It’s at Dillard’s and Macy’s, and I think you’re going to be surprised.
After struggling for the last few years, the brand lured Mizrahi away from Target to infuse some energy and spirit into what was once one of American women’s favorite labels.
The new collection is colorful, snappy and modern, a welcome change from what Liz Claiborne had become. Sure, there are still pieces that will fit in a professional woman’s wardrobe, but most exciting are those pieces that are oh so Isaac, the ones that catch your eye and make you want to try them on.
Check out Liz Claiborne next time you’re at Dillard’s or Macy’s. You can also go online to www.lizclaiborne.com to see the looks, Isaac’s picks and videos.
Ladies, will you jump into a jumpsuit or romper this season?
Jumpsuits and rompers were all over the runways for spring, with designers Marc Jacobs, Peter Som and Max Azria leading the pack.
Some retailers in the Oklahoma City area are excited about the trend because it’s something new and diffferent. The last big hoorah for jumpsuits was in the 1970s, and many women remember them as unflattering, ill-fitting and a pain to get in and out of. Women have never really embraced rompers. Maybe that’s about to change.
So, ladies, are you going to jump on this trend or let it pass? I plan to write a story about jumpsuits and rompers so e-mail

Big jewelry, big statement
Statement jewelry is big this season. Big pieces can carry big price tags, though.
Fine jewelry designer Dana Levy of Dana Rebecca Designs encourages shoppers not to spend too much money on a trendy piece. “Right now, the biggest trend in jewelry is the chunky, statement necklace. You can get a lot of bang for your buck with inexpensive options from places like Banana Republic and J. Crew.”
She recommends pairing a strong necklace with less substantial earrings that are classic and timeless.
