(NEW YORK) The Loub lust is in full swing as the grand maestro of teetering toe-steppers, Christian Louboutin, fetes the big 2-0 with a 20-piece capsule collection, unveiled at Bergdorf Goodman this afternoon. Naturally, we nabbed the King of Sole for a one-on-one. BY MARIA DENARDO
How would you describe yourself?
I’m a cross between MIKA and the Spanish director, Pedro Almodóvar.
Do you ever get recognized on the street?
Let’s just say I have a big following in Kuwait.
How did you only pick 20 designs for your capsule collection?
I tried to pick shoes that have always been recurrent in every collection in some way, like my love of showgirls— the handicraft, jewelry, embellishment, exoticism, transparency, and fur. I also included the ‘Love’ shoe since it’s been very important for my business. It was the only shoe that I sold for six months the first season. I stayed in business because of that shoe!

Gift idea: Conversation heart jewelry
Here’s a sweet gift idea for Valentine’s Day. It’s jewelry based on the candy conversation hearts that are so popular this time of year.
The bracelets, necklaces, rings and earrings include classic phrases such as “Be Mine,” “Love You” and “Forever,” as well as ”Rock Star,” “Soul Mate,” “Diva” and “XOXO.”
The jewelry is available in 14 karat yellow gold over sterling silver with diamonds, 14 karat rose gold over sterling silver with diamonds and sterling silver with rhodium plating with diamonds. Additional styles feature sterling silver with colored enamel.
“This line was created with young women in mind. We wanted to create a fine jewelry collection that is fun and flirtatious, while still remaining elegant and affordable,” stated Murray Shabot, president and CEO of Sweethearts Jewelry.
Retailing between $99 and $799.99, the jewelry is available at Macys.com and SweetheartsJewelry.com.
JC Penney: New pricing, new brands, liberal returns and Ellen
The wait is over. JC Penney’s big news has been announced. The chain has introduced a new pricing strategy, a new logo, new brands and a liberal return policy.
Called Fair and Square, the pricing strategy includes three types of prices: Everyday, Regular prices; Month-Long Values, even better prices; and Best Prices, the store’s lowest prices, which always happen on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of every month.
This pricing schedule will take the place of relentless sales, coupons, rebates and retail gimmicks. The chain will offer 12 promotional events each year, on a monthly calendar. Each month will include even better values on the things customers are looking to buy during the month, according to the company.
JC Penney also plans to re-invent the stores with a series of 80 to 100 brand shops. New brands include Martha Stewart and l’amour nanette lepore.
The new JC Penney brand identity includes a new logo and a familiar face, Ellen DeGeneres, who will be the pitch woman for the company. And the new return policy is simple — any item, anytime, anywhere.
The shopping experience begins Feb.1 with the new logo and pricing strategy. Then, beginning in August, the chain will start a month-by-month, shop-by-shop strategy to update all stores with new merchandise and presentation.

Hillary Clinton’s headband … is it a do or don’t?
Hillary Clinton has been wearing headbands off and on for at least two decades — and probably long before that. She sported one again last night for President Obama’s State of the Union address. This time it was a sliver of a band accented with crystals to pull back her soft flip.
Headbands seem to be enjoying a fashion moment — Charlize Theron and Michelle Williams embraced the look for the Golden Globes.
So, what do you think of Clinton’s headband? Should it be a do or don’t for her? Here are two photos from two different angles from last night’s address.
