Designing Oklahoman: Check out Garyk Lee’s clothing collection

Garyk Lee, who hails from Ponca City and now lives where he doesn’t have to deal with Oklahoma’s wild weather, is creating some pretty nice clothes that will appeal to many Oklahomans.
His collection is Bamboo by Garyk Lee, and it includes everything from easy-to-wear pants to dresses to skirts. He even offers a few couture items. And he’s having a sample sale. Big savings. Keep scrolling down for the prices.
The pieces have 10 percent Lycra and the designs are most forgiving, he says. What’ s more, the clothes are for women of all sizes. The collection isn’t sold in stores, but you can see it all at http://www.gleebamboo.com/.

A closer look at eyelash extensions
I’m blessed with pretty good lashes. A couple of coats of mascara and they really stand out. I have tried Revitalash, an eyelash enhancing treatment. It made my lashes even longer and thicker, but I didn’t keep it up. A tube was about $150.
That was about two years ago when options were limited and the idea was still new. Now more brands, even drugstore faves, are getting in on the act. Ten bucks will get you a lash-enhancing mascara or serum that promises results.
Eyelash extensions are gaining popularity, too. I saw a segment on “Good Morning America” today and was surprised at how expensive lash extensions are. Probably the cost is influenced by the region. This isn’t anything I’m interested in, but plenty of women are — especially for short-term. Maybe a wedding or vacation.
Check out the “Good Morning America” segment. What do you think?
Treat your lips to Fresh Lip Sugar Treatment

It’s no secret that my favorite lip balm is Fresh Lip Sugar Treatment SPF 15. It moisturizes like nothing else, has heaps of vitamins A, C and E and provides protection from damaging UV rays.
It costs $22.50, considerably more than most drugstore brands, but this stuff is worth every penny. And it lasts and lasts.
Even better, it’s available in several tints. I’m most excited to try Passion, a sheer crimson that is said to look beautiful on all complexions.
Other tints include Rose, Plum and Honey. And, of course, there’s my must-have clear.
If you want to sample three of the tints, Sephora offers a Mini Sugar Kissing Trio at Sephora. A $34 value for $28. You get Passion, Honey and Plum tints.
Fresh Lip Sugar is also available at The MakeUp Bar in Oklahoma City.
Book gift idea: “100 Unforgettable Dresses”

Looking for something different for that fashionista on your shopping list? Check out a new book by Hal Rubenstein, InStyle magazine’s fashion director.
With more than 200 images, “100 Unforgettable Dresses” reveals behind-the-scenes anecdotes of memorable dresses in fashion, film, royalty and politics. The book also includes observations about several style makers, including Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
Stories abound, too, including how Ginger Roger’s dress, heavy with ostrich feathers, began to molt immediately upon arriving on set for the filming of “Top Hat.” Production had to be halted.
The book retails for $35.
Happy Thanksgiving

A peek at spring fashion
DALLAS — Forget that it’s the holiday season … at least for a few minutes. Let’s take a peek at what we’ll be wearing come April.
It will be a season of strong colors such as orange, sapphire, pink, red, yellow and apple green, said Gregor Simmons of Gregor Simmons Ltd., a New York-based buying office. Other trends include soft prints, polka dots and classic stripes, great little dresses, full-legged pants paired with skinny belts, colored bottoms, jean jackets, cropped boxy jackets and lightweight cardigans.
In late October, Simmons presented a spring 2012 trend report at the Dallas Market Center where store buyers from across the country gathered to place orders for clothes and accessories that will begin arriving in stores in February.
Simmons said ornamentation is kept to a minimum. Clothes are becoming more clean with simple lines and a dose of sophistication and glam. Black takes a backseat to white and silver colors. Skirts swing into action with interesting details such as ruching, draping, panels, inserts, pleats, twists and knots.
Looks like we’ll be weathering spring in style.
