It works for Lady Gaga, but how will it look on Linda Miller?
I’m tempted to try all these taupe, clay, cement nail polish colors … again. I bought two shades last spring, and my nails just looked nasty. Ewwww.
Recently, I was at The MakeUp Bar talking with owner Alex Mendez-Kelley about makeup and, of course, I had to check out everything, including the Deborah Lippmann nail colors. Alex’s sister, Tina, told me that Lady Gaga often wears Waking Up in Vegas, described as a “putty-liscious gray.” It’s a top seller, too. It’s the color she wears on the September cover of Vanity Fair.
Cost of the polish is $16. Not sure if I’m going to spring for the shade or not. Still debating.
While I was talking makeup with Jennifer Gordon at Balliet’s, she told me that the store is carrying a nail polish line called Priti Polish. She said she thinks the secret to these neutral colors is to go for either a color darker or lighter than your skin tone. Get the wrong color and you won’t be happy.
Guess that explains why I wasn’t happy with those colors I bought.
So, who has tried the new cement or clay colors? What do you think? Share your fave color.

A local store to check out … in Lawton
Last week, I asked readers to share their favorite local stores and boutiques. I’m always searching for great stores, and I know you are, too. Here’s a fave that came in from a reader, but it was too late for my column.
THE BRASS ACORN in Lawton has unique items, one of the owners is usually there. Their prices are very reasonable. They also occasionally have art work for sale by local talent. At one time they had some lovely stained glass. They are located in the 200 block of C Avenue, across from the Lawton Mall. I have purchased small lamps, Christmas place card holders and a watch for a friend’s graduation. My daughter purchased a fountain for a table. Every time I go they have some speciality item available.
