Balliet’s owner Bob Benham elected to serve on national board
Bob Benham, president and chief executive officer of Balliet’ in Oklahoma City, will serve as corporate secretary of the National Retail Federation’s board of directors.
Benham joins an impressive list of directors from Macy’s, Saks Incorporated, The Container Store and Polo Ralph Lauren Corp.
Benham is well-known in the retail industry. He has been in the fashion business since 1966, worked with the May Co. and Federated Stores and served for 15 years as chief executive officer of Hall’s Merchandising Inc. before buying Balliet’s.
Founded by Edna Balliet in 1936 in downtown Oklahoma City, Balliet’s was purchased by Bob and DeDe Benham in 1991. A new chapter in Balliet’s history is about to be written as Balliet’s prepares to move to its expanded new location at Classen Curve in August 2010.
“We are excited to be a part of the continuing renaissance of Oklahoma City and I am honored to be elected by my fellow board members as an officerof the NRF,” Benham said.
The National Retail Federation is the world’s largest retail trade association, with membership that comprises all retail formats and channels of distribution.
