Alex Mendez-Kelley of The MakeUp Bar tells me I’m going to want everything in the new NARS spring makeup collection. Can it really be that tempting? I haven’t seen it up close and personal yet. It won’t land in stores for another week or two, but Mendez-Kelley says people are pre-ordering many of the items.
The spring collection, inspired by actress Catherine Deneuve’s role as Lucille in “La Chamade,” features soft, sexy shades.
“I love Catherine’s makeup look in this movie,” says François Nars, founder and creative director of NARS Cosmetics. “It’s very sophisticated and bourgeois in a Parisian ‘16th Arrondissement’ way. She is the perfect reference for this collection, and apropos for spring, a time to embrace color and get noticed.”
Supermodel and Tulsa native Amber Valletta is the face for the advertising campaign.

Clean your makeup brushes … here’s how
If you’re going to wear makeup, you should apply it with clean brushes. A quick wipe on a tissue or shaking a brush under running water isn’t sufficient.

Trend: white ceramic-style watches
If you saw the movie “The Blind Side” with Sandra Bullock, you probably remember the white watch her character wore. The watch is a ToyWatch white plasteramic. And it’s selling like crazy.
Brook Balentine, a buyer for Cayman’s in Norman, said women are grabbing it up, even though white watches tend to be more seasonal. It’s an easy way to swing into spring. The ToyWatch sells for about $295, but you can find similar styles considerably less.

CFDA launching ‘Fashion for Haiti’ T-shirt
This logo will be on the Fashion for Haiti T-shirt.
In an effort to raise funds for Haiti, the Council of Fashion Designers of America will launch a Fashion for Haiti T-shirt. All proceeds will benefit the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund, according to Women’s Wear Daily. The $25 T-shirt will go on sale at retailers nationwide on Feb. 12, as well as online at cfda.com.
“The tragedy in Haiti has affected everyone and most of us individually have given money for relief,” said Diane von Furstenberg, president of the CFDA. “However, I think it is now important to send a message and create a channel for funding from fashion as an industry.”
The T-shirt will be available in both men’s and women’s styles.
