InStyle Weddings magazine closes
Another magazine bites the dust.
InStyle Weddings, the bridal spinoff of the flagship fashion title, published its last issue, which will be on newstands from Dec. 25 through March 5, 2010, according to Fashion Week Daily.
According to Echo Media, the magazine was the No. 1 selling bridal book on the newsstand. Modern Bride and Elegant Bride were folded into Brides magazine in early October.
If you’re looking for a bridal magazine, you can still find Martha Stewart Weddings; The Knot and Town & Country Weddings on the bookshelves.
A source said the closing of InStyle Weddings wa direct result of the economic impact of the dwindling bridal market, it said in Fashion Week Daily. Saks Fifth Avenue closed its bridal salons at the end of 2008, and designers have slashed prices on their bridal gowns, with Vera Wang announcing a 40-50 percent cut in gown prices earlier this year and Badgley Mischka offering a new, lower-priced Mark and James label.
John Travolta’s spending spree

Ella Bleu with her parents Kelly Preston and John Travolta.
This just in from In Touch Weekly:
****************
John Travolta has always been a doting dad, but he’s really been spoiling his daughter, Ella Bleu, ever since the tragic death of his son, Jett, last January. On November 3, John, 55, treated the 9-year-old to a father-daughter shopping spree at Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills, racking up more than $12,000 in purchases. “They were so adorable together,” a witness tells In Touch. “Ella was picking out clothes and stuffed animals, and John even bought her a necklace from the fine jewelry department. Of course, people noticed him, but he didn’t seem to care, because he was only concerned about making her happy.” All of that special attention apparently worked on Ella, who recently made her film debut in dad’s new movie, Old Dogs, in which her mother, Kelly Preston, also stars. “She seemed to be a real daddy’s girl,” says the witness. “It was clear that she adored him.”
Bootights coming to Dillard’s

Bootights ... a sock and tight all in one.
Just in time for winter — and the gift-giving season and Black Friday — comes Bootights, the first tight designed exclusively to be worn with boots.
Bootights, a sock and tight all in one, were created by Shelby Mason. While walking through an airport security line, she slipped off her stylish boots to reveal not only her gray tights, but an old pair of white tube socks “borrowed” from her father months before for extra comfort and warmth. Busted! But who among us hasn’t worn socks and tights with boots?
Worse yet, one sock had slid down her ankle catching the zipper and snagging a new pair of tights. Shelby spent the entire flight wondering why she couldn’t have a cute, quality tight combined with a cozy foot bed to wear with her boots? By the time she landed, Bootights was taking off.
Bootights, costing $30, will be in select Dillard’s stores Nov.27. In Oklahoma, you can find them at the Penn Square store in Oklahoma City and at the Woodland Hills Mall store in Tulsa. For more information, go to bootights.com.
Michael Jackson’s white glove sells for $350,000
How much would you pay for a glove? Just one. One well-known glove.
Reuters reports that Michael Jackson’s iconic white glove sold for $350,000 — seven times its asking price – at a rock ‘n’ roll memorabilia auction in New York City.
Jackson slipped into what would become his signature accessory while performing his first public moonwalk.
The new owner is Hong Kong executive Hoffman Ma. Julien’s Auction said the left-hand white glove was actually an off-the-rack, “Made in Korea” golf glove that was customized with crystals.
Other pieces on the auction block included the black bondage-inspired jacket that Jackson wore for his 1989 “Bad” tour. The high bid was $225,000, according to Reuters.
Bobbi Brown’s new icy, cool Chrome collection
I’m up for a new eyeshadow or lipstick any time of the year, but there’s something about the holidays that makes me prowl the cosmetics counters in search of something new. Maybe it’s because I’m usually buying gifts for everyone else, and a new lipstick or shadow is a little perk for putting up with the crowds and lack of parking spaces.
I’m especially tempted by the new Bobbi Brown Chrome holiday collection with its icy shimmering accents for eyes and lips. The palette includes 10 eye shadows, four lip shades, a Mini Eye Shadow Brush and a Mini Lip Brush.
Makeup artist Bobbi Brown also introduced three limited-edition Chrome products for lips — Port Lip Color, Chrome Metallic Lip Color and Plum Pearl Metallic Lip Color.

The collection also includes the holiday Chrome Mini Brush Set, a zip-around case that features a Mini Face Blender, new Mini Angle Eye Shadow Brush and a Mini Eye Liner brush.
The Chrome Palette costs $75; the new metallic lipsticks, $22 each.
In Oklahoma City, Bobbi Brown is available at Balliet’s, 50 Penn Place, and Dillard’s in Penn Square Mall.
