Gourmet magazine closing, along with Cookie, Modern Bride and Elegant Bride

Read it and weep. Four magazines just got the ax. If you’re a fan of Gourmet, Cookie, Modern Bride or Elegant Bride, savor them now because they will soon be off the shelf.

The magazines are part of Conde Nast Publications.  According to Women’s Wear Daily,  the bigger Brides magazine , also owned by Conde Nast, will now become a monthly, and the company plans to maintain Gourmet’s book publishing and television programming, as well as Gourmet  recipes in Epicurious.com. Gourmet magazine had been published since December 1940.

The November issue will be Gourmet’s last.  Modern Bride’s October/November, and Elegant Bride’s fall issue, both on newsstands, will be their final issues.

i cant believe they are stopping publication of elegant bride. it is by far the best bridal magazine. its not the run-of-the-mill bridal magazine like some, nor is it so far over the top that few brides can relate to it, like other publications. i am so sorry to see it go. my daughter is getting married next fall and we are using so much of the information in this magazine, and counting on all the coming issues for this year. now, we wont get any more this year. soooooooo sad!!!!!!!!!

I can’t believe they are killing Gourmet and Elegant Bride. What will I read while getting my hair done? I read all of the fashion mags for work…Gourmet was my escape.
