Part 2: Oprah’s favorite jeans

CJ by Cookie Johnson ... Oprah's favorite jeans

CJ by Cookie Johnson ... Oprah's favorite jeans

Here’s more on Oprah’s favorite jeans. The brand is CJ by Cookie Johnson, wife of NBA great Magic Johnson.

I mentioned the jeans in an earlier post, but I have since found the story on oprah.com. I think you’ll enjoy the interview with Johnson. She talks about three questions every woman should ask herself when trying on jeans. The jeans are pricey, $141 to $198, but the creative director for O, The Oprah Magazine, has found a budget-conscious alternative that he thinks delivers great fit and style.  You may be surprised to learn what it is.

Crocs warm up with cold-weather styles

The new Blitzen by Crocs

The new Blitzen by Crocs

When my feet are cold, I’m cold all over. I’ve seen people in Crocs even when it’s 32 degrees outside. Brrrr.  Here’s the answer — for those people who like to chill and others like me who prefer cozy toes.

Crocs’  new cold weather styles provide warmth and comfort, and can be worn all day long. The styles have a furry lining but offer the same comfort that fans have come to enjoy.

The Blitzen, $39.99, and kid’s Blitzen, $29.99, has a removable, machine washable plush lining, side ventilation holes and is available in several colors.

The Gretel by Crocs

The women’s Gretel, $49.99, and girl’s Gretel, $34.99, features suede lace system and rubber outsole.

The girl’s Powder, $39.99, has an outsole that provides superior grip and blocks unwanted wetness while fuzzy upper keeps the kiddos warm.

Look for them at stores or go online to Crocs.com.

Dinner, Donald J Pliner and Dillard’s

Shoe designer Donald J Pliner

Shoe designer Donald J Pliner

Let me say this one more time. I love my job. I just got home from Deep Fork Grill where I had dinner with  shoe designer Donald J Pliner, a group from Dillard’s and a couple of people who work with Pliner.

Pliner, wearing a white shirt and layers of silver necklaces, his gray hair slicked back,  will be at Dillard’s, Penn Square Mall, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday. Oh, and his shoes. He wore beaded loafers, the ones in this picture, and they are awesome.

He told us that his week started with meeting President Obama on Monday.  Pretty impressive. I’m betting the Obamas will be wearing Donald J Pliner shoes soon. And they should. They need shoes that are long on comfort.  Stylish, too.

Some might think Pliner’s week couldn’t get any better. How do you top meeting the president? Well, you get to come to Oklahoma City to a Dillard’s store that sells more of your shoes than any other store in the chain.

I’m impressed.

Let’s just call shoe designer Donald J Pliner what he is — the king of comfort. He likes a stylish shoe just as much as the next person, but if it’s not comfortable, who’s going to wear it? Lucky for him — and the rest of us — he knows how to blend style with comfort.

And he’s coming to Oklahoma City. He will be at Dillard’s, Penn Square Mall, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. And here’s a little tidbit you may not know — the Dillard’s Penn Square store is the No. 1 Donald J Pliner shoe department in the entire chain. That’s how much we love Pliner shoes.

Pliner shoesAlong with meet-and-greet opportunities on Friday, gifts will be offered with purchases.  Also in the shoe department will be a Donald Pliner handbag trunk show. There also will be a selection of men’s shoes there, too.

For information, call 840-8495.

Kayne Gillaspie gets all dolled up to promote “Gown Crazy”

Kayne Gillaspie is "gown crazy"

Kayne Gillaspie is "gown crazy"

Norman pageant gown designer Kayne Gillaspie is gown crazy — as you can see in this picture. I, for one, want to see more — not necessarily of him in dresses, but on televison.

So, let’s all tune in to watch ”Gown Crazy,”  Gillaspie’s television special that airs again at 9 p.m. Oct. 30 on TLC.  It’s the last showing before the network decides whether to buy it as a series.

Gillaspie, a top five contestant from ”Project Runway,” is eager to do a series. He loves the energy and excitement, and it keeps him on his game, he said.  The documentary soap, which first aired in August, followed the designer as he finished pageant dresses as well as custom evening gowns all while helping put together a charity fashion show. Gillaspie’s company is Johnathan Kayne.

I wrote about the special and Gillaspie when it first aired. Read that story here.

Let the network know if you love “Gown Crazy.”  Go here

Marc Jacobs introduces smaller-size Lola

In these trying economic times, many of us are trying to spend less and shop smart.  With many fragrances costing upwards of $100 or more, a good scent often seems more an indulgence than a necessity.

With that in mind, here comes a new smaller size of Marc Jacobs’  alluring scent, Lola. Like its larger sister, the smaller bottle flaunts its own sexy style with the same voluptuous violet bottle as the originl. The bottle is topped with a single bright red floral cap that’s soft to the touch.

The fragrance, a fruity floral  filled with notes of pear, grapefruit, pink peppercorn, peony, rose, and geranium,  is $48  for the smaller bottle, which lands in stores in November.

Has anyone tried Lola? I’m wanting a new fragrance.
