Pretty in purple: Eva Longoria Parker

Actress Eva Longoria and Tony Parker in Paris.
Love, love, love this dress. The color is breathtaking. Purple is such a hot color for fall.
NBA basketball star Tony Parker and his actress wife Eva Longoria Parker wore Versace to the gala charity benefit Par Coeur Gala in association with the Make-a-Wish Foundation, held at the Hotel Meurice Paris. Parker, who plays for the San Antonio Spurs, is ambassador for the Make-A-Wish Foundation France, which grants wiches to terminally ill children.
Hold it: Meryl Streep’s stylist uses L’Oreal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray

L'Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray
If you’re in search of a great hairspray, try L’Oreal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray. I have been using this for more than a year, and I love it. And, yes, I’ve blogged about it before. When I find a good product, I like to spread the word.
What I like about Elnett Satin is that the ultra-fine formula offers good hold (I just want a little protection against Oklahoma’s harsh winds) and it combs out with the stroke of a brush. Love that.
You can find it at Target and other mass retailers for about $14. L’Oreal likes to say it’s the secret weapon of every top hairstylist. Could be. L’Oreal just sent actress Meryl Streep’s stylist six bottles of Elnett Normal Strength. I guess he doesn’t want to run the risk of running out. Me either.
“Dexter” stars Jennifer Carpenter and Julie Benz share beauty tips
I love beauty tips, and I know readers do, too. I always ask hair and makeup artists that I interview to share their favorites. And they usually have some good ones. Regina Dowling of glamour 24-7.com interviewed “Dexter” stars Jennifer Carpenter and Julie Benz at the Entertainment Weekly & Women In Film pre-Emmy Party in Hollywood. Watch the video for some good beauty tips.
Nailtini Simple Syrup for your nails

Nailtini Simple Syrup base coat
Here’s an interesting new product from Nailtini. It’s the Nailtini Simple Syrup base coat, or what’s being billed as the secret ingredient that makes any nail cocktail go down smoother and last even longer.
Nailtini Simple Syrup is spiked with enamel-compatible dental fixatives including calcium fluoride and zinc oxide. The formula provides a canvas for nail lacquer, making it stain resistant to even the darkest polish . It also helps maximize polish life.
What’s more, Simple Syrup smoothes ridges and fills in splits and crackis for strength and durability. According to press information, it even features a shot of optical brighteners, reducing yellow tones in the nail and making it perfect to wear on its own or under a clear, colorless or special-effect top coat.
It contains no formaldehyde, toluene or dibutylphtalate either.
I’ve never used Nailtini polish? If you have, tell me what you think. I usually use Essie polish, but lately it seems to start to chip after three days. It has been my go-to for years, so I’m thinking about trying a different brand.
Anyway, Nailtini Simple Syrup costs $12. In Oklahoma City, you can find it at The MakeUp Bar. The phone number is 405-810-1226; www.themakeupbar.com

Fashion Bug launches new Item of the Week campaign
Retailers are trying to give consumers a reason to shop. Here’s one from Fashion Bug. The retailer has introduced its new Item of the Week campaign. Each week, a best-selling fashion item will be deeply discounted for one week only.
Look for camisole, leggings, sweaters and dress pants — all versatile wardrobe essentials. The Item of the Week campaign slashes prices as much as 50 percent off already new low prices rolled out earlier this year.
Both misses and plus sizes are included in the new Item of the Week promotion.
Fashion Bug stores are at the Shops at Moore in Moore and at Reno and MacArthur in the Westgate Marketplace. For specials and more information, go online to fashionbug.com.
Estee Lauder to shut down Prescriptives brand
Estee Lauder is doing away with its Prescriptives brand effective Jan. 31, according to Women’s Wear Daily.
“We believe that the difficult decision relating to Prescriptives will allow us to redirect our resources to key strategic imperatives where we see the highest growth potential,” said Fabrizio Freda, president and chief executive officer, The Estée Lauder Companies.
Prescriptives was launched in 1979. Years ago, I wore Prescriptives’ custom-blended foundation, but I have since found other makeup that I prefer. But if you’ve got favorite products, stock up now.
I wonder what cosmetics lines will fill the empty retail space? What brands would you like to see move into Dillard’s and Macy’s?
Fashion Week spring 2010: Tommy Hilfiger

NEW YORK (AP) — New York Fashion Week ended on a high note Thursday night, with Tommy Hilfiger sending out a strong spring collection and filling his front row with celebrities that sent photographers into a frenzy, even after eight days of shooting front-row celebrities.
Taylor Swift set off the most flashbulbs just days after the flap with Kanye West at the VMAs, but Naomi Watts, Mary Louise Parker and Rosario Dawson also captured a lot of attention.
The clothes on the runway deserved notice too: Hilfiger’s theme was the “relaxed glamour” of a Southern California boardwalk, which meant a surprisingly cohesive mix of crisp nautical looks and disco-era slinky styles.
The opening look featured a robelike swing coat in a dusty rose silk with a complementary button-down blouse — that was, indeed, mostly unbuttoned — and his finale was a one-shouldered draped goddess gown in white jersey.
In between were a navy pinstripe, double-breasted suit with gold buttons, and a white-and-navy zigzag strapless minidress that looked like it was covered in a ship’s flags.
The jacket-and-shorts set that very well might become the hot womenswear suit for fall was done nicely with a champagne-colored silk bomber, khaki pleated shorts and a silk tank with gold trim. If you’re not sold on the shorts suit, there was also the option of a tan suede blazer, khaki pleated trousers and a peach-colored silk hoodie blouse.

Hilfiger also includes menswear in his show, and the trends included fuller, shorter pants, and shirts worn open to show a flash of skin.
“Dreamt up for a lifestyle that is as chic as it is casual, the clothes are unpretentious but captivating. … Like the beauty of the Pacific, the collection is a paradox of soothing and stimulating,” he said in his notes left for the retailers, editors and stylists, many of whom now go off to London, Paris and Milan, Italy, to get a full grasp of trends for next season.
