Jon Gosselin: dropped from TLC show, seeks to suspend divorce for 90 days

Jon Gosselin

Jon Gosselin

As I’ve said before, I’m on the receiving end of all things Jon Gosselin. I’m talking gossip, news, etc.  So here’s the latest e-blast from In Touch Weekly. It came just about the time it was being reported by People magazine and gossip/entertainment bloggers that Jon Gosselin was being dropped from the show, “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” and it was being renamed “Kate Plus 8.”

********************

When Jon Gosselin heard that his estranged wife, Kate, had a breakdown during the taping of a TV pilot in September, he knew he was responsible for her suffering. In addition to flaunting his relationship with his new girlfriend, Hailey Glassman, and partying at clubs all over the country surrounded by scantily clad women, Jon went on ABC’s Primetime recently and said he “despised” the mother of his eight children.
“He woke up one morning, looked in the mirror and didn’t like the reflection,” Jon’s attorney, Mark Jay Heller, tells In Touch. “He realized he’d made some bad choices.” Jon and Kate were due to be officially divorced by the end of November — but now he claims he’s had a serious change of heart. “I regret my conduct since Kate and I separated [on June 22],” Jon tells In Touch exclusively. “I used poor judgment in publicly socializing with other women so soon.”

Shockingly, today, Jon submitted a document to a Pennsylvania court-approved arbitrator, which he hopes will suspend his split with Kate for 90 days. He explains, “This will enable Kate and me to restore our relationship as cooperative parents and to open up our lines of communication. I hope that she will be as receptive and enthusiastic as I am to do what is best for our family.” He also pleaded with her to set aside their anger so they can start interacting amicably.

“I would like to get back with Kate as a partner in parenting,” Jon tells In Touch. “Even though we were heading for a divorce, it appeared that Kate had been suffering from this divorce as much as I had. That’s why I asked my attorney to put the brakes on this divorce so I could try to regain control over the future of our family. So Kate and I could join on a cooperative course that would benefit our family — not destroy it.”

Jon claims he’s done sowing his wild oats and grown disenchanted with his playboy lifestyle. Jon believes that his womanizing was a result of being dumped by Kate, who told him it was over in October 2008 before filing for divorce. “When Kate broke up with me, I begged her to go with me to counseling,” he says. “She was totally against it. I think I was reacting to the pain I have been suffering as a result of Kate’s rejection of me.”

Heller insists that Jon wants the document to be a sort of peace treaty: “He is hoping to inspire his wife to become less rigid, inflexible and controlling and open up. We’re hoping Jon and Kate can sit down together and start exploring what to do about their situation. Once they do that, the rest will fall into place.”

Gap co-founder dies

Donald G. Fisher, co-founder of Gap Inc., died Sunday in San Francisco. He was 81 and had been battling cancer.

Fisher, a third-generation San Fransiscan, founded his first store with his wife, Doris, in San Francisco 40 years ago last month on Aug. 21, 1969, according to Fashion Wire Daily. With $63,000 and a mission to provide customers with a large array of sizes and styles of jeans, they called the store The Gap – named for “the generation gap” – setting out to solve a problem inspired by their own experience of not being able to find a well-fitting pair of jeans.

In August 2009, the company launched a premium jeans collection, called 1969, in homage to the company’s heritage and 40th anniversary with a newly revised and expanded range of denim offerings.

Gap Inc. became a multi-national retail chain with more than 3,100 stores in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Japan and Ireland, with a company roster that includes not only Gap, but Banana Republic, Old Navy, Piperlime and Athleta.

Fall makeup trends … embrace them now

Two days ago it was 90-plus degrees. Today’s temps are at least 10 degrees cooler.  The weather may be playing havoc with your wardrobe, but it’s not going to affect your makeup. Fall makeup colors are glorious. Go ahead and embrace them.

Christopher Drummond, a licensed esthetician and makeup artist who has worked with several celebrities and models and is creator of Christopher Drummond Beauty, shares his top fall makeup trends for fall:

Gold eyeshadow – What better way to maintain the radiant look that the sun gives us than to apply a beautiful golden eye shadow? Drummond said gold eyeshadow looks great on everyone, whether you use a small amount just to perk up the eyes or a large amount to glam up the look. Christopher Drummond Oro Shadow can be applied in a small amount with the finger tips for a beautiful “worn in” look or it can be layered for more intensity.

Hydrated skin – Wind, cold and sun all damage the skin. Maintaining sky hydration is good to protect the skin and to allow for you to have healthy-looking, glowing skin. The Christopher Drummond Saude Pele Radiance Booster is an antioxidant-packed skin saving and hydrating power that does for your skin what the harsh weather doesn’t.

Deep green eye liner – Perfect for the commitment-phobic, a shimmery deep green liner is a great addition to the eyes without going full-out. According to Christopher, it adds a dash of color without looking like you have too much color on. This fall, Christopher Drummond will be releasing a new liner called Peacock.

Minimal makeup – Drummond,  who recently worked on makeup for New York Fashion Week, says that the big trend for spring is nude makeup. So why not beat everyone to the punch and start the trend early? Products like Christopher Drummond Veludo Velvet Foundation even out skin tone, while still showing off the positive attributes about your skin.

If Paula Deen can wear leggings, so can I

Paula Deen relaxing at a book signing in Dallas with her husband Michael. Check out her leggings.

I wrote a Sunday story about leggings, their popularity and how retailers say they can be great for women of  most ages and many sizes.  Coincidentally, I was watching foodie Paula Deen Saturday morning and she had on black leggings with a long black tunic. She looked good. She broke up all the black with a white sweater.

I own leggings and I’ve worn them around the house, but I haven’t darted out in public in them yet. I’m not sure why. They’re super comfortable.  I don’t think I would look out of place at the grocery store. I would cover up the largest part of my hips with a top that stretches almost to my knees.  I would wear flats instead of  killer heels.

My daughter loves leggings, and has been embracing them for about four years. I embraced them, too, about 19 years ago. Even wore them to work. I was more trendy then than I am now. Some people like to say if you’ve worn a trend once you shouldn’t wear it second time around.  I disagree with that.  You wear it differently. Maybe you wear a different style. With leggings, college students are going to wear print leggings, even metallic. I’m going to stick with basic black.

So, I think I will wear my leggings and long tunic to the grocery store. Heck, Paula Deen wore hers on televison. I don’t think I’m ready for prime time just yet.

Milan Fashion Week spring 2010: Armani and Prada

Prada spring 2010 runway show in Milan, Italy.

Prada spring 2010 runway show in Milan, Italy.

I haven’t been following Fashion Week in Milan as closely as I did New York. But here’s a couple of collections you might find interesting.

This story is by Robin Givhan of the Washington Post:

MILAN, Sept. 25 –The spring 2010 fashion shows began here Thursday with the famously reserved Giorgio Armani and the infamously unsettling Miuccia Prada presenting their collections on the same day, thus causing a severe case of aesthetic and cultural whiplash.

Two designers could not be more dissimilar. Armani is a man who advocates elegance and beauty. Prada is a woman who once purposely created a collection that she herself described as “ugly.”

If Armani sees his ideal woman as a goddess floating down a red carpet, Prada envisions her as an anarchist marching in the streets of Western capitals, perhaps with a jewel-encrusted gas mask.
