Fashion show features snapshot of women’s lives in developing countries
Here’s an opportunity to attend a fashion unlike most others. Instead of the latest couture designs from Paris, Milan and New York, World Neighbors is presenting fashions from the dirt roads, markets and fields in some of the poorest locations on Earth.
Offering a snapshot into the daily life of women and families in developing countries, the International Celebration of Women Luncheon will be at 11:30 a.m. March 24 at the Skirvin Hilton in downtown Oklahoma City.
Free valet parking will be available.
The fashion show offers an opportunity to view the daily attire worn across the globe in countries such as Burkina Faso, Ghana, Thailand, Nepal, India, Guatemala and more. Men, women and children will model the clothing while guests learn about the lives of people across the globe that benefit from World Neighbors programs. Former Miss America Jane Jayroe will host the luncheon.
World Neighbors also will offer a variety of fair trade handmade jewelry, scarves, pottery and other accessories for purchase. These exclusive accessories are produced by artisans that receive a fair wage for their work.
Tickets for the luncheon are $75. To order tickets, call Debbie Davis at 418-0407 or register online at www.wn.org/events.
Proceeds from the International Celebration of Women Luncheon benefit World Neighbors. World Neighbors is an international development organization striving to eliminate hunger, poverty and disease in the most deprived rural villages in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
