Simplify Valentine’s Day with gifts from the heart rather than the credit card
With everyone trying to shop smart, these Valentine’s Day ideas make sense. It’s time to focus on the meaning of the day, rather than the money spent on the gift.
“Feng Shui teaches us balance and moderation,” said Pat Heydlauff, president of Energy Design. “By applying the same principles to Valentine’s Day, we can have a meaningful but simple celebration, even during difficult times.”
As a consultant and speaker, Heydlauff uses Feng Shui color, design and organization principles to transform people and relationships. She suggests these ideas for celebrating Valentine’s Day.
1. Maximize the energy you gift by giving something long-lasting, such as a monthly visit for a manicure and pedicure, spa treatment or massage, car wash.
2. Offer to watch your loved one’s favorite sporting event or show for the entire season, and include his or her favorite snacks and beverages.
3. Spoil your significant other by doing something he or she hates to do — such as cleaning up the house, running errands or doing the laundry.
4. Give thought to a gift of togetherness. For example, sign up for a monthly dance class or private lessons together.
