RoC serum and wrinkle cream promise better looking skin in 12 weeks

roc-deep-wrinkle-night-cream2.jpg

Every morning I stick my face in front of my lighted magnifying mirror and apply my makeup.  What used to be fine lines aren’t looking so fine anymore. Trust me,  it’s not a pretty sight.

Perhaps that’s why I’ve become more interested in all the lotions and potions that target such problems.  So the e-mail that said “turn back the clock while you sleep” in the subject line really caught my attention.

The pitch? RoC Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Serum and Night Cream. The two nighttime products are “clinically proven to give 10 years back to the look of your skin after 12 weeks of use.”

That’s quite a claim.

The products contain RoC Retinol to visibly reduce fine lines and deep wrinkles. Just apply the serum after nighttime cleansing and then finish with the deep wrinkle night cream.

The products retail for $19.99 and are sold in drug stores.

I’m thinking if I start this using these products immediately, I’ll be looking pretty good by the end of April.  Even better, you can look better, too. I’m planning a giveaway of these products sometime in February, so check back often.

And if you already use these products, share your thoughts.

Bring on spring … and sandals

beadybeady_brandylowres.jpg

The weather’s getting better and tomorrow’s temp is going to be in the mid-60s. What a change from four days ago.

This strappy little sandal is sure to get you wishing for spring, too.  The beaded boho T-strap is from Stuart Weitzman. I wonder if someone crafty could take a less expensive yet similar style sandal and secure a string of beads on top of the strap?

Italian prince likes his clothing style, thinks others will too

italy-prince-emmanuel-filiberto-of-savoy.jpeg

With apparel sales spiraling and luxury goods about as attractive as poison ivy,  who in the world would even think about getting into the fashion business?

Italy’s prince Emmanuel Filiberto of Savoy, that’s who. He dubbed his clothing line Prince of Italy. It also bears the arms of his royal family. I guess he didn’t want any confusion about which line was his.

“I have always been very demanding about clothes and I told myself I would like to wear the clothing I created,” he told the gossip weekly, Di piu.

The summer collection will be in stores soon, and though he’s not the designer, he said the clothes will be designed “under my instructions and according to my style.”

Sounds like a prince of guy.

Cheap tips for calming your dry, stressed-out skin

If cold weather is wreaking havoc on your skin but the economy is causing you to rethink your beauty budget, consider these at-home tips from Dr. Ellen Marmur, chief of the division of Dermatologic and Cosmetic Surgery at the Mount Sinai Medical Center New York.

“At home facials once a week in the winter will help reduce dead skin build-up and a dull complexion, Marmur said. “Make it yourself — blend one avocado, juice from half of a lemon and the conents of a lemon-zinger tea bag. Apply to face for 10 minutes, wash with gentle face wash like Terralina, and immediately moisturize with your favorite face/neck cream, massaging for 5 minutes.”

The No. 1 tip for extremely dry or irritated skin: Don’t scrub or pick inflamed skin, and don’t wash with harsh soaps, Marmur said.

No. 2: Apply a thick ointment, such as Aquaphor, which is available at drug stores, to your neck, chest and and hands at least an hour before bed.  Either wipe off with a soft towel or wash with a gentle face wash, Marmur said.

Remember to use a humidifer in your home, especially the bedroom, to protect agains the drying effect of heaters.

Dillard’s — extra 30 percent off

I’m not encouraging you to slip and and slide to get there, but Dillard’s “extra 30 percent off” sale starts today. You can take 30 percent off the entire stock of all permanently reduced merchandise. This might be a good time to stock up on sweaters, boots, gloves and scarves for next year. What am I saying? You can wear them tomorrow because it’s still going to be chilly.

If you do go to the mall, watch your step. Those parking lots are treacherous.

Royal flush … woman’s $70,000 diamond ring goes down the toilet

Here’s an interesting tidbit from Fashion Gossip Weekly.

A California woman’s 7-carat diamond ring accidentally slipped into a toilet in a restaurant restroom just as it was flushing. The city and several plumbers told Allison Berry the $70,000 stone was a lost cause and could not be retrieved.

Eventually, Mr. Rooter plumber Mike Roberts, using a tiny video camera, spotted the gem several feet down the drain pipe and dug up the floor with a jack hammer. The bill came to $6,200.
