Neiman Marcus previews spring accessories
What’s in store for spring accessories? Neiman Marcus answered that question with a spring preview this week. Think bold colors, chunky jewelry, exotic skins. Keep that in mind when you’re in the malls and specialty boutiques this holiday season. You might want to pick up a little something for yourself, too. Here are the NM faves:
Think pink. “We started with think pink, after the famous scene in ‘Funny Face,’” said Sandra Wilson, Neiman Marcus’ accessories director. Whether you opt for hot pink or a more demure ballet pink, the message is clear: Light, fun, easy, girly. “This year we’re mixing a lot of pink and orange, as an ode to Yves Saint Laurent,” she said. “He always liked mixing them.”
Barely there. In keeping with spring’s minimalist mood, nude, beige or pale pink accessories don’t scream bling – they just add a whisper to your wardrobe. Instead, exotic skins like crocodile for a Christian Dior gladiator sandal add the visual interest, or all-over paillettes on a handbag.
Water world. Got a serious case of the blues? Your accessories will be right there with you, but in a good way. Watery blues, sea greens and aqua bring the ocean within grasp. We especially like the rich cobalt blue suede sandals by Loeffler Randall and the jewel-encrusted aqua python clutch by Prada.
Python. If there’s one stand-out trend for spring, it’s python-anything.
Be bold. Whether it’s a pair of huge chandelier earrings, a motorcycle chain, a bright blue metallic tote or a statement shoe like sequined platforms or tortoise-worked heels, it’s better to be bold for spring. Don’t worry about looking to bling-bling – just stick to one dynamic piece and you’ll be safe from overkill.
