Relastin Eye Silk gets another Allure “Best of Beauty” award

relastin-eye-silk.jpgRelastin Eye Silk has received Allure magazine’s “Best of Beauty” award for the second year in a row.

As described in Allure’s October issue, winners represent the best new prdoucts as chosen by the magazine’s editorial staff.

While most anti-aging products focus on stimulating collagen production, Eye Silk is specifically intended to increase skin elasticity. Clinical research has demonstrated that Eye Silk’s patent-pending Zinc Firming Complex works at the cellular level to help promote the formation of functional elastin, a protein fiber that is essential for skin elasticity, according to the company.

Eye Silk costs $69. Relastin products are available online at www.relastin.com.

Gwyneth Paltrow .. she has a new Web siteGwyneth Paltrow has launched her own lifestyle Web site, GOOP.com, reports Fashion Week Daily.

What makes life good, according to her Web site, is a collection of experiences. Each of the sections (Make, Go, Get, Do, Be, See) link to an essay by Paltrow.

Carmindy’s new book

carmindysbook.jpg

Just heard that Carmindy, the makeup artist on television’s “What Not to Wear,” has a new book.

She said she wrote “Get Positively Beautiful”  for every woman who struggles with negative feelings about their beauty. She wanted a book that would change women’s mindset from a negative, flaw-focus to a positive beauty attitude.

She’s going to be traveling the country for book signings. The closest she gets to Oklahoma is a visit to Dallas Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. at Barnes & Noble, 7700 West Northwest Highway. The phone number is (214) 739-1124.

A new season … hopefully a clean closet

shoecloset.jpg

Wouldn’t it be great to have this much space for shoes?

I’ve got big plans this week.

First, I’m going to clean out and organize my closet. Not only do I have too many clothes, I have too many clothes that I don’t wear. I’m keeping what I love and what looks good on me and the rest is going in the donation pile or consignment stack.

Ditto for shoes. How did I end up with more than 20 pairs of black shoes? Probably the same way I got a dozen pairs of black pants.

Anyway, from the closet I’m moving to the makeup drawer. Again, I’ve got way too much.  I hate to think how old some of that stuff is. And lip glosses? I could open a gloss boutique.

If I can get those two things accomplished this week, along with my regular day job, of course, I’ll be happy.

So, how about you? Is your closet ready for the new season?

People are talking about The MakeUp Bar’s T.A.L.K. Beauty

T.A.L.K. Beauty, the brainchild of four beauty gurus at The MakeUp Bar in Oklahoma City, was being talked up in New York City during Fashion Week.

Owner Alex Mendez-Kelley was in New York to help a friend do makeup for one of shows and where better to launch a media party for T.A.L.K.

Whitney Thompson, winner of “America’s Next Top Model,” was introduced to Sha-Liner  and reportedly couldn’t quit raving about it.

T.A.L.K. Beauty has three brushes (look for three more later this year) and 14 Sha-Liner colors.  Sha-Liner is a multi-use product that doubles as eye shadow base, eye shadow and gel eyeliner.

We’ve really taken our formula and made an innovative product, and tried to make a lot of colors, Mendez-Kelley said.

The MakeUp Bar is at 7646 N Western; the phone number is 810-1226 or check it out online at www.themakeupbar.com.

Lip gloss/eau de parfum combo

I love two-fers, either products that do double duty or one product with two different products in it.michaelkorsrollerball.jpg

Here’s one from Michael Kors Beauty:  a limited edition signature eau de parfum rollerball/lip gloss wand.

On one end is Bare Vinyl, a sheer nude gloss that delivers gorgeous shimmer and shine.  On the other end is Kors signature scent, a white floral fragrance the designer introduced in 2003.

Suggested price is $22, available at Sephora.
