Shopping with Eva Longoria

Among the 100 e-mails waiting for me this morning was one from Ferragamo’s publicity machine.

Actress Eva Longoria was shopping at the Ferragamo boutique in New York City with husband Tony Parker and stylist Robert Verdi on Monday.

Eva is carrying an off-white woven calfskin Ferragamo tote with a wooden gancio logo closure. She’s also wearring a pair of Holly flats from the Creations salon, created originally for actress Audrey Hepburn.

While shopping, Eva “chose” three pairs of these flats and a red patent Eva bag from the pre-fall 08 collection.

She wasn’t the only one shopping. Her basketball-playing husband, Tony Parker, chose two pairs of Tramezza made-to-order shoes in black and espresso brown.

Prescriptives’ new mineral makeup

Prescriptives is diving into the mineral makeup pool.

New All Skins Mineral Makeup SPF 15 offers sun protection and anit-shine ingredients. The foundation will be in stores in July.

The formulation is super lightweight, just right for summer in Oklahoma, and comes in 18 skin-matching shades. What’s more, press information says it features semi-precious gems ameythyst and rose quartz to give skin a radiant glow.

What’s not in it? Pore-clogging ingredients such as oil, talc and fragrance.

To make application easy, Prescriptives hopes to entice you with its new round buff brush.

The makeup is $32.50; the brush, $30.

Let me know if you like it.

The bigger to see you with

marykay.jpg

The Olsens — Mary-Kate, left, and Ashley. The only thing big about them is their sunglasses.

Mary-Kate Olsen and her sister, Ashley, love their big sunglasses. They kick-started the trend a few years ago, and it seems they’re still gah-gah over the look.  Is it me or do those oversize glasses make their faces seem even smaller?

Bug-eye styles are just one of several trends in sunglasses. Check out the others in my story this Sunday in the Living section.

Dare to go bare

bareminearls.jpgLeslie Blodgett shows off bareMinerals.

If you already love bareMinerals, here’s your chance to learn more. If you’ve been wanting to try the foundation, shadow or blush made from crushed minerals, there’s no better time than right now.

The Bare Escentuals fan bus and national makeup artists will be rolling into Ulta locations in Norman, Oklahoma City and Tulsa June 19-22.

Bare Escentuals started the mineral makeup revolution with the introduction of its 100 percent pure bareMinerals.  The company’s slogan is “makeup so pure you can sleep in it.”

Chief Executive Officer Leslie Blodgett — the one you see on QVC and television infomercials — won’t be with the tour in Oklahoma, but don’t let that stop you from getting to the bus stop.

The artists will be dishing advice and techniques while you get a “make-under,” and there may be some product giveaways. The bus is making stops across the United States.

There is no fee, but space is limited. Sign up early for the Try, Believe, Love Tour.

Here are the dates:

June 19: 1 to 7 p.m., 600 Ed Noble Parkway, Norman. 360-2044.

June 20: 2 to 8 p.m., 4915A E 41, Tulsa. (918) 664-5916.

June 21: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., 11123 E 71, Tulsa. (918) 249-8025.

 June 22: noon to 6 p.m., 2340 W Memorial Road, Oklahoma City. 302-4900.

Watch it

watch2.jpg

The big trend is big watches for women.  No dainty little slips around the wrist, thank you very much. Big watches make a bold statement.

Maybe you’ve noticed celebrities flashing their man-style watches. Now women outside Los Angeles and New York City are paying attention.

My daughter had been looking for a big watch at a bargain price when she spotted one at Wal-Mart for less than $15. It’s silver with a dark face (similar to the one pictured). It probably won’t last forever, but neither will the trend.

She had a few links removed so the watch doesn’t roll around her wrist.  Since it fits, it doesn’t look sloppy and it delivers a big punch of style.  The woman at the jewelry counter said hers was the third men’s watch she had fixed that day to fit a woman.

Fast fashion cheap. Who doesn’t like that?

Does she have the look?

I recorded “She’s Got the Look” Wednesday evening, but I haven’t had time to watch it. I just caught the last 20 minutes or so when I came back from running errands.

Now that we know the 10 contestants, who do you think will hang around for a while?

Next week’s previews revealed quite a transformation for some of the women. Did you see Karin?  She goes from a long blonde mess to a short, sexy bob.  Wow. I want a makeover like that!

I’m not big on reality shows because of the drama; maybe there won’t be any in this one.  What am I saying? Of course there’ll be drama. The previews showed Paula screaming and another woman having a meltdown.

Anyway, check out the bios of the 10 competitors, read the message board and follow judge Robert Verdi’s blog on www.tvland.com. Let me know what you think.

Freebie for you

Check back often because I plan to offer more freebies.

Cruising for Botox

Here’s a new wrinkle to entice cruisers. Along with a little fun in the sun, relaxation and good food,  Norwegian Cruise Line now offers passengers a shot of Botox., according to USA Today.

With competition so fierce among cruise lines, it’s getting more difficult for one line to set itself apart from another. The opportunity for guests to look better, or younger, might be a good selling point.

Norwegian says it is pioneering the concept of ship-based Botox, Restylane and Perlane facial treatments in the Mandara-operated spas on its vessels. Treatments are on the Norwegian Dawn, Norwegian Gem and Norwegian Spirit to start, with plans to launch fleet-wide this fall.

And, yes, the treatments are under the supervision of medically licensed doctors. Norwegian hasn’t announced the cost of the treatments yet.

So, would you rather scale a rock climbing wall or get rid of your frown lines? Let me know.

Lindsay’s SPANX moment

lindsaylohan.jpg

When the wind caught Lindsay Lohan’s Dolce & Gabbana mini at the MTV Movie Awards, the whole world got a peek at her SPANX. Yep, even those without an inch to pinch like undergarments that slim and smooth.  Luckily, Lohan was wearing black panties and a SPANX Hide & Sleek Slip.  No Britney moments for Lindsay. For that I think we’re all thankful.

Check out who’s got the look

“She’s Got the Look,” the much-hyped series that searches for America’s next supermodel, lands on TV Land at 9 p.m. Wednesday.

What makes this different than other reality model shows is that these 10 contestants are 35 and older.  None are from Oklahoma, but I think I’ll follow the first few episodes just to see what happens. Check out the sneak peeks and casting call videos at www.tvland.com/originals/shesgotthelook/

Kim Alexis is host, with judges celebrity stylist Robert Verdi, supermodel Beverly Johnson, who is more beautiful than ever, and Sean Patterson, president of Wilhelmina Models.

The winner will receive a modeling contract with Wilhelmina and a fashion spread in Self magazine.

Tune in and let me know what you think.
