He needed a comb out
We’ve all seen women putting on mascara or makeup as they drive, but this morning I saw a guy combing his beard as he cruised down I-44.
It was about 7:15 so it wasn’t rush hour just yet, but there were plenty of us in a rush to work. Anyway, it made me smile and we all need that on a Monday morning.
Look who’s paying attention to women over 40
I love it when I come across a story and it’s by one of my friends. Here’s a nice read from Barbara Bradley who writes for the Memphis Commercial Appeal. It’s about how the entertainment, fashion and beauty industries are starting to notice women older than 40. Click here for the story.

Sniffing out the Beckhams
Victoria Beckham … into fragrance, accessories and clothes.
Coming in September to a store near you: Beckham Signature for Her and Signature for Him prestige fragrances.
Yes, that’s Victoria Beckham … if you’re wondering.
“I am very aware of people’s preconceptions coming from a pop group and being married to a soccer player,” Beckham told Women’s Wear Daily. “But I am not just a famous person who is putting my name on different things and doing licensing deals all over the place. Everything I do is true to myself. With the fragrances, I designed the bottles, I got to the factory, I worked on the fragrances. I’m really the creator behind the project. You’re getting a piece of David and me with this.”
The Beckhams already have fragrances in the mass market — Intimately Beckham for Him and Her. And there’s her dVb denim and sunglasses collections.
She also tells WWD that she’s working on a collection of dresses that she plans to show in September during New York Fashion Week.
Start saving your money. Beckham said prices will start at about $1,200.
Of course they will.
We would expect no less from Beckham, who wore a Marc Jacobs dress, sky-high Christian Louboutins and a red leather leather Hermes Birkin bag during the WWD interview at The Ritz-Carlton on

Obama inspires Versace men’s collection
Fashion designers find inspiration in some unsual places — including presidential hopefuls.
Designer Donatella Versace dedicated her spring/summer 2009 men’s collection to Barack Obama, the man of the moment. Surprisingly, there were no ties in her latest show, and shirts under jackets were either super easy with rolled up sleeves or replaced by a silk T-shirt.
Is that the way to dress for success?

Slimming jeans
Levi Strauss & Co.’s new and inexpensive Totally Slimming jeans land in Wal-Mart stores August.
Sold under the Signature brand, the jeans are advertised to do what women want their jeans to do — flatten stomachs and flatter figures. Even better, the jeans cost less than $20.
Cheap and flattering. Maybe the fashion gods are listening to us.

Color yourself beautiful
Never let it be said that a topic is too delicate for this fashion and beauty blog. With that in mind, I bring to your attention this product — Betty, Color for the Hair Down There.
Yes, it’s exactly what you think it is.
According to the press release, Color for the Hair Down There is the fist and only safe hair dye for the “hair down there.”
This is not a new product, but it hasn’t been talked up much lately. Until now. The product is featured in this month’s O, the Oprah Magazine. Hmmm, I wonder if it’ll show up on one of Oprah’s “favorite things” television shows.
Anyway, the product comes in five classic colors, including hot pink (go figure!), and four specialty colors. Press info says the product is available at Bed Bath & Beyond (who knew?) and at www.bettybeauty.com. Cost is $19.99.
