Sephora comes to JC Penney in Moore
Making up just keeps getting better in the Oklahoma City area.
Sephora, the beauty store where shoppers are encouraged to play and try on products, will open Friday inside the new JC Penney store in Moore, 2400 S I-35 Service Road.
The new Sephora, prominently visible in the center of the store, will feature the signature black and white look and some 50 brands, many of which are only available locally at the Sephora store in Penn Square Mall.
While the Sephora inside Penney’s is smaller than the stand-alone stores, favorite brands such as Smashbox, Cosmedicine, Philosophy, Dr. Brandt, Dior, Stila, Bare Escentuals and Sean Jean, as well as Sephora’s own signature line, will be available.
JC Penney and Sephora announced plans for the “store within a store” concept two years ago. The Moore store is the first in Oklahoma to feature Sephora.
As with other Sephora stores, trained consultants will be available for makeovers and to answer questions or recommend products.
So, ladies, get ready for a little face time with a new shadow, lip gloss or hydrating cream.
Having fun with fashion
Fashion is a lot of things – interesting, creative, often breathtakingly beautiful. And sometimes funny.
I laughed out loud when I saw these pictures from the India and Japan Fashion Weeks. Now I’m no stranger to strange stuff on the runway. I see it every year. But I can honestly say I see more clothes that are pretty than pretty silly.
Each of these designers has his or her own vision. I just can’t figure out what it is.
Who needs a makeover?
You might need a makeover if you look like this.
Maybe your 30-year high school reunion is coming up and at your 25th, everyone said you haven’t changed a bit. Trust me, that’s not really a compliment. Maybe you’re stuck in the ’90s, or worse, and still wear the same lipstick and eye shadow shades. Perhaps you’re just tired of the old you and want a new look.
The Oklahoman is looking for some women who are open to new hairstyles, who will consider a different approach to their makeup and how it’s applied, and who want their brows tamed. There’s a reason experts say brows are like the frame on a picture.
To be considered for a makeover, send us a recent photo and tell us why you want one. Write to Linda Miller, The Oklahoman, P.O. Box 25125, Oklahoma City, OK 73125 or e-mail it to lmiller@oklahoman.com.
Do it today, because the beauty treatment starts in a week.
Shopping for big earrings
Lucy Liu “Mia” in “Cashmere Mafia.” Check out the earrings.
Big earrings are in.
At least if what I see on television is any indication.
The BFF on “Cashmere Mafia” and “Lipstick Jungle” are wearing hoops the size of donuts and chandeliers on steroids. These make the big earrings and dangles we wore a few years ago look downright puny.
I dug through my stash of old earrings, but, alas, nothing there that Lucy Liu’s character on “Cashmere Mafia” would wear. I had to go shopping. I found plenty of big hoops, but I’ve never been fond of that style — especially after I caught my brush in one and ripped it out of my ear.
I’m still searching. I want big. Jumbo. King size. And, of course, I want it cheap. It’s not like these will be classics or anything.
I’ll let you know what I find. And you let me know if you find it first.
