It’s in the bag
I love purses, but I don’t like to change bags. I search for one that works with the majority of my wardrobe and off I go.
Since I don’t change purses often, the one I carry often gets overstuffed, heavy and, well, a bit unorganized. I usually end up with multiples — several lip glosses and lipsticks, several pens and enough pieces of paper to wallpaper my kitchen.
Since I was bold enough to ask women what they carry in their purses, I thought it was only fair that I share what’s in mine.
By the way, the picture that ran with my “what’s in your purse?” story in Sunday Living on July 22 — that’s my purse and all my stuff, but we overstuffed intentionally for the photo.
Anyway, in my gold metallic bag right now: a yellow wallet filled with credit cards, cash and receipts (I decided on a yellow wallet so I could find it easily); two expense checks; a digital camera; two small tins of Altoids mints; business cards (mine and others); cell phone; contact lens and solution; checkbook; OSU day planner; Firelake Grand Casino mailer; small bottle of hand lotion; under-eye concealer (CoverBlend by Exuviance); glass nail file; reading glasses; Sooo Lilly Super Lip Balm; Maybelline Shiny-licious lip gloss in Jam’n Jelly (Carmindy, the makeup artist, said she loved Shiny-licious, so I had to try it); Fabulous Bath lip plumper; MAC Lipglass in Pink Grapefruit; Sooo Lilly lip gloss in Coppered Rose; Clinique gloss in Mimosa Blossom; Trish McEvoy lipstick in Sparkling Copper; Sugar lip treatment by Fresh; Trish McEvoy lip gloss in Iced Bronze; travel size bottle of Pureology UV Color Defense; Q-Tips; cereal bar; car keys; company badge; Essie nail polish in Red-y Set Ex, Poshe Super-Fast Drying Top Coat and Creative Nails Sticky (I just had a pedicure, and I take my own polishes); and three pens.
Q&A with Carmindy
I recently talked with Carmindy, the makeup artist on television’s “What Not to Wear,” about makeup and her new book, “The 5 Minute Face.”
She has a very healthy approach to makeup, one that most women will appreciate. Even better, she likes to use both high-end and drug store products. That’s someone we can really relate to.
Check out my story in Sunday Living, July 15. Here’s a closer look at Carmindy.

Always in my purse: The Q-tips purse pack.
Favorite cosmetics: You mean other than the ones I’m not doing yet? Right now, it would probably be Benefit.

Guilty pleasure: Tasty D Lite. Sometimes I’ll have a pint for dinner.
Best part of the job: Travel. I’m a travel junkie and I love it. Being able to travel all these amazing places has just been great.
Here’s the makeup she had in her purse the day we talked. It was a bit more than usual, she said, because she was meeting product developers about the possibility of her own line.

3. Cover Girl No. 570 lipstick
4. Pout Flushed Blush in Flushed Pink
