Disney Acquires Marvel

Doesn’t that sound official?  It’s true.  Disney has bought Marvel for $4 billion.

Johanna Draper at Comics Worth Reading notes that this means Disney might be able to add Marvel Characters to their theme parks.   I have no speculations at this point.   What do you think this means for both companies?

Bleeding Cool lists some reactions.

Uh-ho! Long before DC comics added any kind of dark character elements to their comics (except for Batman, who’s origin story has always been very dark and creepy), Marvel was a veritable cornucopia of anti-heroes and existential angst. Somehow I just don’t see Daredevil, The Hulk and the Sub-Mariner walking and smiling while holding hands with Mickey, Minnie and Goofy. Which reminds me of a joke, that I can’t tell on this site! ;-)

Do you really know a Mickey, Minnie and Goofy joke? Let’s hear it!

OK, you asked for it.

Mickey is divorcing Minnie. The judge says, “I understand you want to divorce Minnie on the grounds that she’s insane.” Mickey says, “I didn’t say she was insane! I said she was ****ing Goofy!
