It actually can't be enforced. Good kids will be good kids. Bad kids will continue to be bad and disrupt the classroom. OKCPS should concentrate on getting the disruptive kids that waste teacher and student time out of these classrooms. Ask a school board member what will happen if kids come to school without uniform clothes. They certainly will not be sent home. So those that already break the rules and disrupt the schools will figure that out. And the good kids will follow the rules and it will be absolutely unfair. Uniforms will NOT improve test scores. Parent accountability is continually addressed by no one. Why in the world should these elected officials an overpaid, underworked school, administrators who are paid with my tax dollars be able to tell me how to spend my money. If people sit back and just take this, they will take anything. And when this makes no difference, more civil liberties will be taken.

Call the school board a lot and voice your opposition. 587-0000

Once again the OKCPS has done a beautiful job manufacturing some astonishingly week evidence to support their agenda. It has been clear from the beginning that the rule was already in place and the “great research” (Sandra Park) the committee spent weeks collecting, was to support it. Fortunately, five additional minutes on the internet can provide all of the counterpoint needed to point out the stupidity of this ruling. I personally, am tired of an administration that jams their agenda down the children and parents throats and calls it “the greater good”. I sincerely hope that the OKCPS’, A-F grading scores improve from nearly the country’s worst, and the focus will now become education.
Great Job OKCPS!

I am shocked and appalled at the decision made by the school board to require all students in OKC public schools to wear a uniform. It is, I believe, punishing all students for the actions of a few. My daughter will be a student at Classen SAS in the fall; one of the reasons we hoped to be at that school was because of the fact that it was not a uniform school. It is an excellent school in which freedom of expression is as much a part of the curriculum as math or English. Classen SAS is a school full of kids who have been told as they as they have been alive that it's okay to be different, it's okay to stand out, it is, in fact, wonderful to not be the same as everyone around you. Making the kids at this particular school, which does not have a gang problem, which does not have a disciplinary problem, is a punishment. It is punishing these achievers because of the actions of kids in other schools. It's not right, and I honestly believe that making these kids wear a uniform is going to cause more problems than it will ever solve.
