I am not bashing or blaming anyone. At some point the person in charge has to accept responsiblity for what is happening with students and staff. I was excited to h ear that Barbara Davis was name the interim principal at Douglass. She is an amazing woman with VERY HIGH EXPECTATIONS... I worked for her my entire career in OKCPS. She is a great leader both by instruction and example. I hope she is able to turn the image of Dougalss around for their students, staff and community.

High quality teaching, YES; however, changing grades and absences NO. I was an OKCPS teacher for 6 years and under NO circumstance should anyone change grades or absences for a student. NO EXCUSES, that means from adults as well. I taught in a SIG school, so I know first hand the stress and workload placed on the teachers, staff and students. However, that does not mean to gain CHMAPIONSHIPS we cut the STUDENT short academically. We preach character to students; what you do when no one is watching...people are watching whether you think they are or not. It is not a racial issue; it is an integrity issue.

I applaud Ms. William's dedication and her loyalty in the face of the pettyness that surrounds her situation at Douglas. She is to be commended for her insight and most importantly her understanding of Dr. Staples' vision to improve a school that is worth saving. She is correct in her assessment that those whom should have the children's best interest at heart, only view their own agendas as worthy. Dr. Staples' energy and commitment will be rewarded, but sadly not in the place where he gave so much effort and sacrificed much. Best wishes to those dedicated teachers who remain and deal with the struggles accurately portrayed by Ms. Williams video. They deserve much support and will miss it in Dr. Staples' absence.
