We use Brightcove at OPUBCO. I’m a big fan of Jeremy Allaire, CEO of Brightcove. In my opinion, many of his business strategies have been brilliant.

Brightcove has grown from just another video platform to a leading solution for many very large media companies. They have consistently rolled out upgrades.

We don’t fully utilize their APIs, I’m hoping we can change that this year. This means more live video and better streaming solutions across mobile devices. And it means distribution across other platforms such as Livestream and YouTube.

I also admire Allaire’s thoughts on leadership. I believe there is a needed creative area between black and white. But some people simply need everything structured.

Jeremy Allaire: “Those even became tenets for me in terms of my management style — a kind of laissez-faire approach to allowing people to self-direct and peer-collaborate to figure things out and get things done here. That attracts a certain kind of person. There are other people who can’t thrive in that — they need things spelled out, they need their five tasks.”

The acquisition would be YouTube’s first major foray into producing original content, and shows how intently YouTube is focused on offering professional shows, not just amateur videos and other short clips

Yesterday afternoon I notice Matt Johnson (@matt_uvizz on Twitter) ripping the local media and social media peeps for not covering Edmond sixth grader Greyson Michael Chance’s video going insanely viral. Matt runs a cool video operation called UVizz, check them out here. But I’m thinking, great, I apparently missed something big, better check into this. So I click on his link and watch the video millions of others have watched now too.

Pretty impressive. It shows some kid mashing his way through “Paparazzi” on the piano in front of his classmates and, more impressively, nailing the vocals. Not just a karaoke version, but with some personality and soul. Maybe a little heart.

One thing is clear in the video: he has talent.

So I message Matt on Twitter for any contact info, and we at OPUBCO Studios start to find ways to track down the young star. At this point the vid had about one million video views.

This morning, it had about 8 million.

Holy cats, that’s impressive. So was his performance on Ellen. Can’t be easy to perform under such expectations in a whirlwind trip from OKC to LaLa land with the bright lights and big cameras focused.

I wrote the above video, knocked it out with Angi and handed it over to Kyle Roberts to edit. Kyle had some fun editing the hair flip into a transition/wipe. It’s a fairly informative video of what you should know about the video everyone’s buzzing about.

Hopefully we’ll track down the man himself for another close-up.

Now Google is shopping for other events to show on YouTube in real time, a plan that could shake up the sports broadcasting world. To date, though, live sports viewing on the Internet has been hampered by slow broadband speeds, and the reluctance of sports leagues to cannibalize profits that come from traditional broadcasters. Some broadcasters, like ESPN, predominantly show events online that they do not carry on television.

Thousands of people watched as Texas Stadium was imploded around 7 am today.

Thousands of people watched as Texas Stadium was imploded around 7 am today. Some trivia for you (also known as worthless info): 2,715 pounds of dynamite was used, demolition of Texas Stadium cost about $6 million, the Dallas Cowboys won five Super Bowls with Texas Stadium as its home field.

I saw one game there: Emmitt Smith’s final home game as a Cowboy, a brutally cold Saturday night game. Michael Jordan was in town two nights later with the Wizards. A decent weekend of superstars past their prime.

From ESPN.com:

The longtime home of the Dallas Cowboys — known for the giant hole in its roof, “so God can watch his team,” according to local lore — came tumbling down early Sunday in a planned demolition.

Fireworks shot off above the building for several minutes, then hundreds of fans counted down as 11-year-old Casey Rogers of nearby Terrell, the winner of an essay contest, pushed a button triggering the implosion. More than a ton of dynamite dropped the west side of the building toward the north, the east die toward the south and the roof right on top.

Below (after the jump) are YouTube videos of the implosion. More YouTube videos can be found here. Lots of people shot video this morning.
