I also pulled an April video the NewsOK TV crew show of Justin Blackmon interviewing Ryan Broyles. It’s way more compelling that listening to me read tweets because you learn a little more about the personalities of those two very talented receivers. It’s at the end of the above video.

Local financial pro Adam Dani has been on Twitter (@adamdani) the past few weeks promoting OKC’s Startup Weekend. Now, it’s time for our local biz peeps to see what they can come up with.

Twitter is great for learning of events like this. And meeting new people. I haven’t had a chance to personally meet Dani yet, but this event is a very cool idea. He passed along his contact info via Twitter and Angi Bruss knocked out the interview.

Watch the above video to learn more from Dani about Startup Weekend.

Says Dani, “I think we will all be shocked at what is possible when you get 50-60 wickedly talented people together and have them crank out companies in 54 hours.”

I appreciate Dani taking the time to visit OPUBCO Studios and share more about the event. Here’s the schedule:

Friday, March 5th: (Pitch ideas, Form Teams)
5:30pm: Doors open, meet and greet, discuss what would be interesting to build.
7:00 Pm: Pitches start!
Anyone can get up and pitch an idea. This is a self-selection process. People form teams around ideas that they think are interesting and would like to work on for the weekend. Ideally, you’d like a group between 5 and 10 people — but groups of 2 or as large as 10 are acceptable. Teams are not limited to working on web only applications. Generally, these make the most sense given the nature of the weekend and those who register. But if you really feel like working on that new cupcake business, go for it!
9:00pm: Vote on top ideas and form teams around those ideas based on interest and skill sets required to build the ideas. Teams solidify their concept and create an elevator pitch.
Midnight: Leave for home after brainstorming with team.

Saturday, March 6th: (Build Build Build!)
9:00am: Start development.
12:00pm: Lunch break.
9:00pm: Gut check on the product; basic prototype building; group get-together for drinks and to talk about the products everyone is working on.

Sunday, March 7th: (Build, Demo, Wrap Up)
9:00am: Get back to work on projects.
10:00am: By now, you should have a live splash page up with an email capture and a simple blog.
12:00pm: Projects are being developed, lunch
6:00pm: Sink or swim time for those looking for a weekend launch.
7:00pm: Presentations from each company. Talk about what worked, what didn’t, what could go better.
10:00pm: Wrap up and move out.

This seems like a good idea, and one that will likely develop into a mainstream feature for vehicles: more personal tech.

From the USA Today:

•OpenBeak. Bringing in Twitter, which lets users send short messages to the masses, seemed a natural. OpenBeak, formerly called TwitterBerry, is an app that makes it easy to use Twitter’s most popular functions from mobile devices.

•Pandora. This Internet radio service boasts 40 million users worldwide. It lets users custom-tailor music in song lists that can be paused or skipped through.

•Stitcher. A personalized, on-demand radio system. Users can pick radio programs they want to hear, and listen on their own schedules.

Happy Friday everyone. Today, Oprah joins Twitter. Ashton Cuthcher tops CNN.

Happy Friday everyone. Today, Oprah joins Twitter. Ashton Cuthcher tops CNN. On Twitter. And the over/under on Mike Koehler tweets today I’m setting at, oh, 22.

It’s Coffee Break, your daily look at the videos and information you can find on NewsOK.

Let’s go to the menu. Yesterday’s top video was the aerial view of the destruction in Midwest City caused by the wild fires. Remember it was a week ago we got our first look at the devastation.

Moving on to taller things. The Oklahoman’s David Zizzo is interviewing Douglass Beall today. Just to make you feel lazy, Beall is an OKC physician who has climbed the seven summits of the world. Up next, the North Pole in 2010. That story will be coming out next month. We shot him while we could.

Our capitol boys, Owen Canfield and Michael McNutt tape a little something we call the Capitol Debrief every Friday morning. Wanna bet they mention the TEA party?

Angi Bruss and Kyle Roberts are taping a preview of the upcoming Lion King show at the Civic Center.

Later today, NBC News correspondent Bob Dotson will be in the studio. Mel Bracht will grill him for this weekend’s Sunday Conversation. Look for that online at NewsOK and in ink in The Oklahoman. Dotson has won more than 100 awards for his ‘American STories’ series on NBC’s ‘Today’ show. You know, when we have guests like a Bob Dotson or a Mike Boettcher, and I see how good they are on camera and behind the camera, it really drives home how mediocre my performance is. It’s good to see the people at the top of the game. But thanks for watching.

Speaking of watching, it’s Static time, boys and girls. This week’s guest comes out of Denton, Texas, because we have run out of Oklahoma talent. It’s Erin Austin, a singer/song writer, who is excellent. Check out Tanner Herriott’s work behind the camera, and George Lang in front of the camera.

Ok, finally, to Twitter. Ashton Kutcher challenged CNN to be the first to 1 million followers on Twitter. Kutcher threw down the gauntlet on the Larry King Show. Kutcher won and will donate mosquito bed nets to to charity for World Malaria Day which is April 25.

This morning, Oprah Winfrey joins Twitter. And is making a big deal of it. Her first Tweet this morning was in all caps, which is a no-no. That’s considered shouting online. I’m guessing she figures that one out pretty quick.

More locally, OPUBCO’s Twitter guru Mike Koehler has dropped 5 tweets this morning, probably another two during this taping. He has around 1,000 followers. You can and should follow him at @mkokc. Follow NewsOK at @newsok and Newsok.tv at @newsoktv.

I’m out, Tanner Herriott and I are shooting Table One today with chef Ryan Parrott of Iguana Grill fame and Dave Cathey of The Oklahoman’s Food Dude fame. Should be fun…. I’ll leave you with some Erin Austin from this week’s Static episode…
