I’ve interviewed Jonathan Fowler a few times. Norman Music Festival. Wimgo videos. BlockParty OKC.

Great guy. Talented guy. Here are a few more excerpts from the interview at this past weekend’s fashion show event on Film Row in downtown OKC.

Fowler has been involved in the production of 10 holiday songs from local bands called “Nice People Holiday Compilation 2010″. And, Merry Christmas, you have an opportunity at the free download. NMF3 preview

It’s about that time again. Downtown Norman will host the third annual Norman Music Festival in about a month, April 24-25.

Jonathan Fowler and Quentin Bomgardner stopped by the OPUBCO Studios earlier this week to preview the event. Big thanks to them for their time and having fun with the interview. Last year we taped some commercials with them, including a skit where they imitated Penn and Teller.

I thought it was funny anyway…

I can’t imagine all of the coordination that goes into putting together a musical festival, certainly not one with over 100 acts. Find more event info at wimgo.com and at normanmusicfestival.com.

By the way, the guys mention local rapper Jabee will appear at NMF3. He was in the studio today for an upcoming webisode of Static with George Lang and Tanner Herriott.

Skype rules

After a studio tour from our friends at a local Chevy dealership, we taped this weekend’s NewsOK TV segment and then another Skype interview with Rick Smith.

Smith is with the National Weather Service, in the Norman Forecast office. David Jones set up our video gear in Norman. I interviewed Smith from our OPUBCO Studios in north Oklahoma City. We’ve been testing various methods of Internet video streaming for months. Yesterday we taped our first talkback with the NWS and followed up today with an update on the colder air that will invade the state.

I hate winter. Just wanted that on the record.

Smith does a great job, very knowledgeable (of course) about his job and Oklahoma’s weather. I’m looking forward to the relationship between OPUBCO and the National Weather Service. Great to go straight to the source and have them tell us what’s going on and what they expect.

And Skype makes it easy. I think once we upgrade our streaming machine in the studio, we’ll have a better signal. And we’re already looking at the 720p stream.

Palin fans camp out in Norman

I was in Moore tonight going over some music with the guys in the band, decided to drive by Hastings in Norman. Were people camped out just for Sarah Palin’s book signing Thursday night?

3 things about U2

In September, U2′s tour management sent out a highly polished EPK (electronic press kit) promoting the US leg of the tour. The above clip uses b-roll and sound from the EPK.

U2 plays in Norman on Sunday. I’ve seen U2 countless times, starting with the PopMart tour at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.

On Saturday, we are taking part in the media tour of the stage. So we’ll get an up close look at the monster construction and talk with the people who make it happen.

Graham Colton comes home

He’s toured with Counting Crows, Dave Matthews Band and John Mayer. He’s had a hit song. Done the network nightshow tour with Letterman.

Graham Colton sat down recently to talk about creativity and what that means to him. Colton admits he had the Friday Night Lights experience at Heritage Hall. And learned a lot while on tour with some of today’s biggest acts. But now he’s home, has released a new EP and is ready for what comes next.
