“Time Warner Cable Inc. (has) made the first formal pitch to the Hollywood studios for what is known as “home theater on demand.” The cable company presented a variety of scenarios. But the main one, which has received early support from some studio executives, would allow consumers to watch a movie at home just 30 days after its theatrical release—far earlier than the usual four months—for roughly $20 to $30 a pop. That proposal is still being debated and talks are fluid. People close to the matter say that several studios could sign on to a version of it as soon as the fall, making the first movies available on such a system by the end of the year or early 2011.”
District 9, the trailer
District 9 opens this week. It’s getting great buzz and reviews. The above District 9 trailer can be found, like all of your movie trailers, on Wimgo.com.
Here’s The Oklahoman’s George Lang’s review. More from Lang at his StaticBlog.
After reading more about this movie, I discovered it’s based on “Alive in Joburg.” Here’s more from newteevee.tv:
But if you still aren’t sure if it’s for you, skip watching the trailer — instead, check out the 2005 short film it’s based on: Alive in Joburg, directed by District 9 helmer Neill Blomkamp (who also directed Tempbot, and was going to direct the now-on-hold Halo feature film). Alive is District 9 writ small, a documentary-style look at what would have happened if, in 1990, Johannesburg, South Africa’s apartheid system was complicated by the arrival of some truly illegal aliens.

deadCENTER Film Festival
|
Tonight kicked off the ninth annual deadCENTER Film Festival.
“Sweethearts of the Prison Rodeo” was screened on the streets of downtown OKC in the film district, see image to the right taken from the curb near the back.
Organizers on Twitter claim about 500 people attended the screening, they were hoping for about 200 according to The Oklahoman’s George Lang.
The deadCENTER Film Festival runs through Saturday at various locations throughout downtown OKC and Bricktown.
Jessica Alba posterizes, apologizes
Tanner Herriott shot b-roll of the various shark posters around downtown OKC. I caught up with Tanner and Steve Lackmeyer around 3 pm after the Bricktown Association meeting at the Bricktown Police Substation. We then went over to the area outside the YMCA to shoot in front of a poster.
Lackmeyer called me tonight to report during the taping of this segment, his phone was ringing. It was on silent. One of his sources was calling to give him the 411 that Jessica Alba was three blocks away on Sheraton taping a segment on Film Row.
