Kim Kardashian in OKC

OPUBCO publication Look at OKC has partnered with CityWalk in Bricktown for a series of celebrity appearances. Lil Jon visited the “7 Clubs in One” destination earlier this year (yeah, that’s right!).

Kim Kardashian had the club fired up Friday night. Big thanks to the CityWalk owners, managers, bouncers and others working that night for being great to work with.

Videographer Kyle Roberts shot the above interview, I merely held the mic and asked questions. She arrived around midnight in a black Escalade to the White Party – dressed in black. After a few party pics with the club brass, I asked her a few questions from outside the side entrance on the sidewalk while the managers huddled around.

Kyle and I weren’t sure whether we’d get a few minutes or just a quick/worthless “Hey, Kim say hi to OKC.”

But she stepped up to the mic, or Zoom in this case (actually had a guy look at me and say “don’t Taze me bro!”), and answered about 4-5 questions. Came across as genuine. Wasn’t in a hurry to get clubbin’. Was willing to give a quick interview. Stands about 5’2″.

And then the madness began. We spoke with the managers and bouncers beforehand about being able to follow her up to the VIP area. Kyle followed the bouncer escort and captured the above video. A sea of craziness, is the best I can describe it.

Fun night. Got to meet someone a lot of people on Earth have heard of. And got a pretty cool video out of it.

Greyson Chance rocks the piano, some Gaga and Ellen

Yesterday afternoon I notice Matt Johnson (@matt_uvizz on Twitter) ripping the local media and social media peeps for not covering Edmond sixth grader Greyson Michael Chance’s video going insanely viral. Matt runs a cool video operation called UVizz, check them out here. But I’m thinking, great, I apparently missed something big, better check into this. So I click on his link and watch the video millions of others have watched now too.

Pretty impressive. It shows some kid mashing his way through “Paparazzi” on the piano in front of his classmates and, more impressively, nailing the vocals. Not just a karaoke version, but with some personality and soul. Maybe a little heart.

One thing is clear in the video: he has talent.

So I message Matt on Twitter for any contact info, and we at OPUBCO Studios start to find ways to track down the young star. At this point the vid had about one million video views.

This morning, it had about 8 million.

Holy cats, that’s impressive. So was his performance on Ellen. Can’t be easy to perform under such expectations in a whirlwind trip from OKC to LaLa land with the bright lights and big cameras focused.

I wrote the above video, knocked it out with Angi and handed it over to Kyle Roberts to edit. Kyle had some fun editing the hair flip into a transition/wipe. It’s a fairly informative video of what you should know about the video everyone’s buzzing about.

Hopefully we’ll track down the man himself for another close-up.

Drive a car, eat some cake

Ruth’s Sweete Justice Bakery created amazing cakes highlighting the cars at the 2010 OKC Auto Show. Angi Bruss was on hand with Kyle Roberts for this in depth, hard news story.

Seriously, Ruth’s has some awesome cakes. And I do enjoy cake. And cars for that matter.

Episode four of Welcome Home

N Style September cover shoot

NewsOK’s Kyle Roberts tapes each month’s cover shoot of N Style, The Oklahoman’s fashion publication.

While it’s not hard to make these videos look good, Kyle does an excellent job of trying new editing and looks each month.

Hosted by Angi Bruss, this month took a different approach. We spoke with the models about what it takes to get prepared for their shoots.

Get to know Maggie McClure

Kyle Roberts shot George Lang at DFest earlier this summer when Maggie McClure performed. Check out the vid.
