This Tuesday needed a Coffee Break
More detailed explanation on this series soon. Angi and I knocked a few highlights of existing videos on NewsOK.tv.
Damon Fontenot is covering the Thunder announcements tonight: trade involving Tyson Chandler (who is on Twitter), new mascot and the game vs. the Hornets. Tim Money has been in Cushing all day covering the developments in the triple homicide. We have some video online, expect more soon.
Reality stars and famous chefs
It’s Thursday, and for us kids in the OPUBCO Studios that means sports. We
have seven sports segments to tape today. You can look for those this
afternoon. Remember, we stream the Press Row live each Thursday at 11:30 am.
It lasts about 30 minutes and we post it online afterwards.
It’s not all sports though. Tim Money and Carrie Coppernoll are following
today’s annual homeless point in time survey, organized by the Homeless
Alliance. And Tanner Herriott is catching up with The Oklahoman’s John
Williams to talk with Utopia Joe, you may know him from his reality TV show.
He lives right here in OKC.
Tonight, celebrity chef Ingrid Hoffman is in town. Angi and Tanner will be
at the Cox Center as Hoffman lights up the stage with her Latin take on
heart healthy cooking.
Stay with us at NewsOK.tv, enjoy your
Thursday everyone.
Thunder wins, reporters get comfortable
The OKC Thunder held off New York last night at the Ford Center. NewsOK.tv’s Tim Money was there to get reaction from players and coaches. And he taped Mike Baldwin and Darnell Mayberry for some analysis, sponsored by our friends at Jackie Cooper BMW. Mike and Darnell really do a great job. They know their beat cold.
But what cracked me up is the setting of this video. Check out Mike and Darnell reporting from the Nicholson seats as they talk about the big lead the Thunder almost surrendered.
Using the green screen
Sometimes on NewsOK you’ll see various advertising that is beyond the usual tile or banner. You may have seen the Oklahoma City Philharmonic or a choir “walk out” on the screen of your browser.
We use a green screen in the 7th floor studio, similar to what you see on the local TV stations’ weather segments. You can see in the above picture (click for larger image) Brad Belyeu with a cut-out basketball (yes, basketball) on his head. The newest walk-out ad is more of a “peel-away” ad that you’ll see at the top right corner of your browser.
The Thunder basketball bought this form of advertising on NewsOK and we’ll have it online soon.
Brad is a season ticket holder to the Thunder. We spent about an hour in the studio earlier this week working on this shot. Todd Fraser used C-stands usually meant for lights or shades to work as a window that pushes down; then draped it in green to keep the green screen effect.
Thunder wins, hear how
Damon Fontenot was on the scene Friday night as the OKC Thunder thumped Toronto.
Fontenot filed two videos, as we typically do from the Thunder games. We tape the post game press conference and grab The Oklahoman’s reporters for a post game analysis piece. The analysis is sponsored by Jackie Cooper BMW. And we thank them for that.
So you say the mayor is downstairs?
The day before Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Eve as it’s traditionally known, brings no shortage of workload in the OPUBCO Studios.
We taped four sports segments, including the 3-Pointer. This is a segment that airs before each Thunder home game at the Ford Center. Today, Mike Sherman, Berry Tramel and Mike Baldwin provided three talking points about Friday’s Thunder-Timberwolves game. Watch for it about 20 minutes before tip-off on the scoreboard above center court.
We almost taped former OKC Mayor Kirk Humphreys, who stopped by the lobby on a miscommunication with a reporter. This is a good example of the functionality of the OPUBCO Studios. We were set up for an N’Style fashion show on holiday clothes. When we caught word that Mr. Humphreys was downstairs, we had the studio ready for a one on one interview within five minutes. Turns out, the interview will be rescheduled to include current OKC Mayor Mick Cornett.
So, on with the fashion show. Cue the club music and warm up the catwalk…
