Sam Bradford day across all the land
We shot and edited a ridiculous amount of video today, including this one. The Oklahoma Senate decided it needed to be Sam Bradford day. And so it was.
Some live shots go better than others
So Sam Bradford made the big announcement. OU Coach Bob Stoops said it was much bigger than any signing day announcement, or something to that effect. Bradford is returning to play his junior season for the Sooners.
Tim Money shot the press conference for us. David Jones went with him to stream the presser live. Then Brad Belyeu pursued with the wireless Cricket card that we forgot. Tough to do live Internet video without, you know, the Internet.
We had the live stream up and running just as Bradford was speaking. The viewers instantly spiked from the 15 or so (probably all in the building) to 320 as online editors posted the live link on the NewsOK home page.
Jones snapped a few pics with his iPhone. Angi and I taped a quick update in the studio and used the photos for scene setters.
Making of Sam Bradford video
Ready for some more football? Ready to relive Sam Bradford’s highlights?
Kyle Roberts has put together a great Sam Bradford highlight reel using the excellent footage from NewsOK.tv’s Damon Fontenot and Tim Money.
Kyle used Final Cut Pro to edit the videos. The footage was uploaded during the season to Final Cut Server. Kyle pulled it down and used effects he had previously created and used in other videos. Our music is licensed through DeWolfe.
Video: OU Red White game
Two notes:
1) Sooner content drives huge traffic on NewsOK. So does OSU, breaking news and weather. But the Sooners typically pull large page views and video views.
And they drive large amounts of comments from Sooner fans. Check out this comment from today’s OU Red White game.
John from Destin notes “The only TD by the first offense was called by a fan….that inspires confidence….”
Here’s what John (from Destin) is referring to:
The Sooners’ first-team offense scored its only touchdown on a 51-yard pass from Bradford to tight end Jermaine Gresham on a play called by fan Shae Farmer, who got the chance to call a series of plays by with the winning bid of $2,900 in an auction benefiting the athletic department.
2) See for yourself. Watch Damon Fontenot’s video from Norman.
“Dominique Franks and the Sooners defense grab six interceptions and return three for touchdowns in Saturday’s spring finale.”

Sooner football video and the QB situation
Damon Fontenot will file a video report from Norman later today as the Red-White game will attract thousands.
As always, The Oklahoman has done a fine job today of breaking down the spring football “season” and looking at what we’ve learned.
As always, the QB position had attracted attention.
Jake Trotter reports: “Joey Halzle is the No. 2 quarterback: Keith Nichol and Landry Jones get talked about the most, but Halzle is clearly OU’s second-best quarterback at the moment, behind starter Sam Bradford. Nichol and Jones will get their chances in future seasons, but for now, Halzle is the No. 2.”
Meanwhile Malcolm Kelly dominated the NewsOK page views and video video views this week with his ranting after a less than expected Pro Day workout.
Then he apologized. That’s usually a good move following a rant.
Check out the comments on the Sooners articles. Good feedback with the expected fan banter. Most of the readers see the Kelly apology as an agent’s move.
