Things are going well at Remington Park. 1.3 million visitors last year. up 11 percent this year. Slot machine revenue is at $240 per machine daily. The Oklahoman’s Steve Lackmeyer has a good story in today’s business section about the Adventure District in Oklahoma City. Did you know the Oklahoma City Zoo has topped 800,000 visitors this year?

My friends in the multimedia and sports departments here at OPUBCO have created a cool interactive break down of OU quarterback Sam Bradford. Yes, piece by piece. Blake Jackson spoke with OU quarterback coach Josh Heupel about Bradford. Check that out on the sports page.

Fifty years ago today – Oct. 4, 1957 – Wally and Beaver Cleaver appeared on TV for the first time in Leave It to Beaver. This weekend TV Land will air a 24-hour 50th anniversary marathon, beginning at 7 p.m. Go to TVLand.com for clips, streaming video of the pilot, and Beaver trivia.

That’s today’s 3 Things. Go brush up on your Beaver trivia. And watch some baseball.

We did something a little different with Ed Kelley’s Oklahoma Matters today.

First, we used the segment to promote The Oklahoman’s football section. It hits newsstands and driveways Sunday.

During the segment, we used video from Nate Billings’ Oklahoma Focus segment from last week. Nate, one of The Oklahoman’s photographers, described what equipment he used, and why, for the black and white photos used in the football section.

Check out the result, pretty cool. Also note the lower third animation used to introduce Ed. Credit to Tanner Herriott for the editing.

You gotta love it when you get lucky.

Like when you hit every light green on the way to work. Or when your co-worker stumbles. And it’s caught on tape.

We tape a segment each week called DnA. It stands for Dave N Angi. Every Tuesday or Wednesday we send Angi out to talk with Oklahomans about various topics. This week, we were at Remington Park shooting a promo video for the upcoming Oklahoma Derby (Oct. 21). While there, Angi spoke with people inside the casino. Kyle edited the piece with some classic Vegas-style music.

Once we have footage, we tape a Dave-with-Angi segment in the studios, usually on Thursdays and the video is posted late Thursday or Friday morning.

If you haven’t seen our studio, it’s like a closet. Pretty small. We’ve all tripped, stumbled or fallen in that studio over cables or light stands.

Be sure to watch this video until the end for Angi’s dramatic exit. We are fortunate to work with good sports around here!
