We used Mogulus to host our live streaming election coverage Tuesday night. Today, they posted a note on their blog of 35+ “big media” companies to use their service. Mogulus works well for us most of the time. We had a hiccup during our 8 pm segment. But they have been pretty reliable and allow for great functionality.

Democrat candidate for US Senate Andrew Rice came to the OPUBCO Studios this morning. The Oklahoman’s Michael McNutt, sporting the bearded look, sat down for a quick, three question interview. We’ll have Sen. Jim Inhofe in this afternoon to ask the same three questions.

Earlier this week, Jim Roth and Dana Murphy sat down with The Oklahoman’s Jack Money, sans beard but with colorful tie, to answer those same three questions. They are running for the Corporation Commission.

All videos will be posted on NewsOK later this week to complement the growing election coverage leading up to Tuesday’s election night.

John Tyler Hammons stopped by the studios this afternoon. The 19 year old is running for mayor of Muskogee. The Oklahoman’s Julie Bisbee arranged the interview. You can watch the video below.

For a 19 year old, Hammons appears to be well spoken and smart when we were talking with him before and after the interivew.

You can read Julie’s story, it was in today’s Oklahoman.

Ed Kelley will do a live talkback with Mark Green from Washington.

Ed Kelley will do a live talkback with Mark Green from Washington. Well, we tape it live. Then it becomes On Demand on NewsOK and the rest of the Web.

Here’s how it works. Or at least here’s how it happens:

- Mark uses his iChat software on a MacBook Pro from The Oklahoman’s corner office at the National Press Building in Washington DC. He chats with his favorite OPUBCO buddies, in this case, us in the studio.

- Ed stands in front of camera while we bring up the iChat with Mark on the plasma screen behind him.

- We tape their standup Q&A using Final Cut Pro, which we will use to do further editing in post production before posting. In fact, this video may not post until the weekend.

Think it’s low-tech? Actually what we do is Internet video, so it’s right down main street. We’re not a network or local TV affiliate broadcaster. We’re Internet video and we use the technologies within that medium.

But don’t think the networks aren’t using similar tactics. CNN used Skype recently for a breaking news video. That’s cool.

Today, Congresswoman Mary Fallin is in the OPUBCO Studios for various shoots. Very nice lady. Very well spoken.
