“Our Needs Are Greater Than Our Strengths”

Zach Taylor died last week. His funeral service was held today at Westminster Presbyterian in Oklahoma City.

Taylor ran ACOG and was responsible for many civic advancements in our city and state. He spent years chasing the dream of 911. He realized our needs more than we did.

I never met Zach Taylor. But his daughter Elizabeth is a good friend of mine. It’s unimaginable to me to lose a parent. I can’t even think about it. And to see a friend lose a parent is a terrible thing.

The service was very nice. And moving. The words and message were filled with inspiration. And sometimes words are what we need. Because they remind us of our memories, which is the personal time machine we all have.

We also need our parents and friends and those we trust and love. We all need someone to lean on and to help us.

And, as the message echoed through the overflow halls of Westminster, “Our needs are greater than our strengths.”
