Looking down at the Ford Center floor

Angi Bruss, Tanner Herriott and I taped an interview with Ford Center GM Gary Desjardins today. Then we went up to the rafters and taped a couple of intros on the catwalks. All of this is for an upcoming video that features a time lapse of how the Ford Center swaps floors, from dirt to ice to the basketball floor.

So we shot a typical “hey we’re high atop the Ford Center on the catwalk” standup. Then we tortured poor Rob Agnew from the Ford Center into braving the heights for a little longer to shoot a second standup, playing off the NewsOK billboard at the ends of the Ford Center.

Those catwalks are quite stable really.

But way up there.

Tanner Herriott shot four days on the catwalks, often in the middle of the night, thousands of photos at a time. Then he is adding a cool Photoshop effect. Should be some decent stuff. See below, they look like toy trucks.

Fairly busy morning in the OPUBCO Studios. Expect upcoming videos on the Lord of the Dance and the Ford Center.

Angi Bruss interviewed Jason Gorman, lead dancer in the national tour of Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance.

Angi and I will hit the Ford Center this afternoon to complete a time lapse video. Tanner Herriott has been losing sleep, spending time in the Ford Center’s rafters. From the cat walk he has taken thousand’s of photos, capturing the Ford Center’s workers putting down dirt, ice and the hardwood for various events. Look for that video later this week or next.

Damon Fontenot is covering the Thunder announcements tonight: trade involving Tyson Chandler (who is on Twitter), new mascot and the game vs. the Hornets. Tim Money has been in Cushing all day covering the developments in the triple homicide. We have some video online, expect more soon.

Angi Bruss and I knocked up some quick Sooner headlines today. It’s a “format” you’ll be seeing more soon.

The video page on NewsOK will receive a new look, likely later this week. Angi and I will showcase various videos you should pay attention to, watch, know about, laugh at, or whatever.

We churn out about 10-15 videos a day. Unfortunately some good stuff rotates off the home page pretty quickly sometimes. The redesign aims to present video in an easy to use manner, but also to showcase our better stuff.

McNellie’s Pub throw down tonight

Angi and I interviewed Chef Steven Paizis, head chef at McNellie’s Pub a couple weeks ago. Their official grand opening is tonight with beer, burgers and bagpipes.

The much-anticipated Grand Opening of James E. McNellie’s Public House is finally here! Meet me at the bar…. at 9 a.m.

So I did.

Angi and I had a 9 a.m. shoot at McNellie’s Pub, which just opened a few days ago. It’s in the Midtown part of Oklahoma City, just north of downtown at NW 10 and Walker. It’s in the old Plaza Court building where Veazey’s drug store used to be back in the day.

The official name of the establishment is James E. McNellie’s Public House. The owner, Elliott Nelson, spent a few months in Ireland, decided he liked their pubs, so he opened one in Tulsa called McNellie’s Pub – a play on his last name. It went well, so now he’s trying one in our backyard.

We shot two videos, a typical “DnA” video where we talk with someone about their establishment. And Angi interviewed the head chef, Steven, in the kitchen as he whipped up some really good pasta.

Pretty good morning I’d say – surrounded by 350 beers and good food.

So far this summer has been ridiculous with non-stop wind. Angi hit Bricktown to ask people if they preferred this summer’s wind or last summer’s rain.
