iPhone smart phone market share at 19%

Apple Inc.’s iPhone, a new model of which is widely expected this summer, took 19.2 percent of the U.S. market for “smart” phones in the first quarter of 2008, according to research firm IDC’s vendor survey.

Impressive, but that’s down.

I’m just looking forward to next month’s announcement from Apple and hoping there’s a new version that’s cool. Blogs are indicating new colors if nothing else, aside from the expected 3G.

Apple to cut iPhone prices

For those of us who love our iPhones, here’s some news:

A new iPhone is coming, no surprise, but with rebates its price is reduced to $200 (8gb) or $300 (16gb).

When the 3G iPhone is introduced this summer, AT&T, the exclusive U.S. iPhone sales partner with Apple, will cut the price by as much as $200, according to a person familiar with the strategy.
