Static Holiday sessions coming soon
Tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 10, from around noon until we finish, probably around 6 pm, we will shoot the 2011 edition of the Static Holiday sessions.
Artists who will collaborate include:
Marcy Priest and Sean C Johnson
Josh Sallee and Adam Case
Maggie McClure and Shane Henry
The Nghiems and Cami Stinson
Denver Duncan and Erin Austin
I’m looking forward to this production. Kyle Roberts and I will produce. Should be a long day but result in some cool stuff.
And I’m looking forward to putting this cool barber shop chair to use somehow.
The Quest: Bedlam’s Best
Here’s the latest episode of The Quest, which completes its inaugural season. The show highlighted the four top plays each week from OU and OSU and allowed NewsOK.com users to vote for the “Dig of the Week.” The show was sponsored by Call Okie.
Call before you dig. You dig?
The show featured content captured during the games, a new graphics package over the green screen and a fuller crew in the studio for a one-stop production.
Damon Fontenot, who shot the footage along with Tim Money, produced the show and the segments within the show. Very well done; a solid, polished package was presented each week.
Static Comedy sessions: coming soon
We’ll be here all night…
Hosted by Spencer Hicks (@spencerlenox), the Static Comedy sessions were taped tonight at Casablanca’s in NW OKC, near May and Memorial.
Kyle Roberts and I spent a few hours taping 11 comedians and their five minute routines. The video series will be unveiled early next year.
Big thanks to Dana at Casablanca’s along with her very accommodating staff and patrons for their help and the venue. Big thanks to Spencer for hosting and being funny. And to Nick Tankersley and Nancy Simoneau for their leg work in making the event happen.

Shooting DSLR without a tripod
The above video was shot with a Canon 7D DSLR and no tripod. I had a tripod with me, but decided to attempt an entire shoot without the tripod. Not saying it was smart. Didn’t have a Zacuto rig or other DSLR device – just the neck strap and some slightly steady hands. The lighting was another challenge. I didn’t use the umbrella light I had with me, and actually missed that more than the tripod. But with the DSLR footage you can recapture so much in post production. During the edit in Final Cut Pro, I upped the saturation and white levels. The overall levels I tweaked down to around 90 or 95.
Bellini’s has new owners, menu; video ahead
Caught up with my friend Alain Buthion tonight. Alain now owns and chefs at Bellinis in the Waterford complex at NW 63 and Penn in OKC.
It’s Italian since the France native grew up along the Italy/France border. And it’s really good stuff. Alain whipped up the above lobster and shrimp pizze. Outstanding.
We talked about an upcoming video to showcase the new menu. Should shoot that in a few weeks.
