29 ways to stay creative
29 WAYS TO STAY CREATIVE from TO-FU on Vimeo.
I saw this on F Stoppers, a great site for learning about video production and shooting tips. Pretty good tips inside this video.
It’s nice to have archival footage
We started our video efforts in earnest about four years ago. We don’t have a lot of footage before that. But we do have some 1999 Bricktown Canal opening ceremony footage. And it just so happens Steve Lackmeyer was working on a story about the canal and recent developments. Time to dust off the old Mary Fallin footage!
Brave and Beautiful
When we met about a month ago to discuss production of the Brave and Beautiful section, I had a pretty good idea of how the video could look: black and white with color video footage of the photo shoot. It didn’t exactly work out that way, but the above video remained close to the original concept.
Big credit to all involved in this project from the OPUBCO side and the supporting sponsors.
But the story is the brave and beautiful women whose stories are told within 13 minutes of high definition footage. I hadn’t met any of the ladies prior to the studio session. The photo shoots happened the week of the taping, with the video shoot on a Friday a couple weeks ago. I sat each lady down in the OPUBCO Studios and asked them to tell me about their fight with cancer. Not an easy interview: “Please tell me about the worst moments of your life and how you dealt with it. And please look into the camera.”
Each lady had an amazing and dramatic story. Each were very willing to share their stories and provide advice to those who do and don’t have cancer: early testing and stay strong.
I doubt very much the above video does those stories any justice. But I hope it shares their optimism. I hope it conveys their strength and bravery. I hope it shows their beauty, because each lady showed tremendous bravery and beauty.
Sugar Free AllStars at the OKC Zoo: Ghostbusters
Above is one of the more addicting themes in pop music, “Ghostbusters.” We shot the Sugar Free AllStars at the OKC Zoo last week. Above is one of three videos from that shoot. Static has now reached over 50 episodes, produced by Tanner Herriott and now by Kyle Roberts, hosted by George Lang.
No shortage of talent in front of the camera or behind the camera throughout this entire series.
Just another day in the OPUBCO Studios
It is what you think it is.
And sometimes it’s better not to ask.
But since you did, we were taping the latest episode of Parties Extra! with Helen Ford Wallace. And it was the annual visit from Marty at Party Galaxy. Marty came by to preview the latest in Halloween fashion and fun. That video will be posted later this week I believe.
Big props to Marty for his continued support and advertising with OPUBCO and sponsoring Parties Extra! He’s a good sport about coming on and talking about the latest ghouls and gags as well.
And Helen continues to do a fine job hosting this program. It’s one of our longest running video series. Why? Because she cares. Helen works to find guests and keep the momentum moving on this show. And it has gotten to the point of two shows a week sometimes as guests are seeking out Helen to appear and promote their events.
Brave and Beautiful: coming Sunday
The above video is a 15 second pre-roll, previewing our Brave and Beautiful special section in Sunday’s editions of The Oklahoman. You’ll notice the pink paper it will be printed on.
And we will have a 13 minute video online at NewsOK.com. Six ladies and their stories about their personal, intimate struggles for survival against cancer.
I interviewed each of them cold: no prep, no info about their lives or their backgrounds. And the result is a very honest collection of answers compiled into one video.
