First of all I believe that Antwan knew what he was doing and knew his intentions… Mr. Ersland had every right to shoot him in self-defense. Antwan was 16, he shouldv’e been working for money and not robbing the honest people of this society.I go to school and have a 3.5 GPA. Antwan should have been working or going to school and not out ruining an honest man’s way of life. I also work 30 hours a week while going to high school. Im sick of people wanting handouts.. go get a job and stop depending on the tax payers!

In my opinion the only reason Mr. Ersland was sentenced to life in prison, the judge, the DA and jury was afraid of the black community in OKC, because there would probably have been a riot. His trial should have had a change of venue, like in Southeastern OK where usually in that part of Okla. they don’t put up w/that kind of BS. Mr Ersland had been robbed other times and the cops never did anything to protect his business when Antwan came in with a gun in his hand he wasn’t a kid anymore and got what he deserved. His mother should also be sitting in jail, she’s ultimately responsible for her child. She should have known where he was at. I hope Mary Fallin has the kahunas to overturn his conviction.

Mr. Ersland deserves a medal, not life in prison. In my opinion most of the black community in the OKC area wants a hand out they do not want to work they’d rather rob and steal for what they get. For example the deputy that was working at the Cattlemen’s Restaurant. Antwan Parker’s mother needs to be charged for neglect and not teaching her teen age son better than to hang out with thugs. And why wasn’t he in school, Oh he probably had already quit school.

Sean, I read your comments on the Jerome Ersland case which I think is a load of BS. First of all, Antwune Parker was SIXTEEN YEARS OLD AND YES HE KNEW RIGHT FROM WRONG USUALLY WHEN YOUR SIXTEEN YOU DO KNOW RIGHT FROM WRONG. I do not believe the story that Antwune Parker and his friend were forced to rob the pharmacy. He and his friend were just up to no good and yes, if his mother had monitored him more closely and had more control over him, he would not have been IN THE WRONG PLACE AT THE WRONG TIME. Besides, Antwune should have been working instead of robbing. Yes, you are right about peer pressure but, if Antwone was raised properly he would have done the right thing and gone to the authorities. Mr. Ersland was doing the right thing by working and being a productive citizen and he still got punished. THE CRIMINALS OF SOCIETY HAVE MORE RIGHTS THAN THE VICTIMS.

Earsland is a war veteran with PTSD. The robbery put his adrenaline in motion, the PTSD caused him not to be able think but to react to the situation. Most veterans or anyone that has had a gun pointed or shot at them can relate. Also, these youngsters were not forced to rob that store. No one can force you to rob a store unless you let them. That is the biggest bunch of B.S. being said out there. Where was Parker’s Momma when her son was out there running the neighborhood with the older thugs? Also, the two punk thugs (for lack of a better term), that attempted to rob that pharmacy were bad enough to point that gun at Earsland and the other employees in the store. I got nothing for the punk thugs and think Antwan Parker got what was comming to him. This just goes to show you how American justice cares for their citizens, especially veterans, that try to make a living the right way, and how the Black community is used, duped, brainwashed, and deluded to get more votes for the politically correct polititians and make more drug sales for the drug dealer.

well first off it’s sad that people do not understand at what point it actually became “murder” it wasn’t when he shot him (antwun parker) the first time, it was when he took the time to walk back in the store walk right by this “potential threat person” who was not moving by the way, not to reload the gun he already had but to get a whole other gun!!! and comly walked over to this guy and stood over him and at almost point blank range 18-20 inches from him and shot him five more times!!!! thats when it became murder!! I dont care if your black, white, blue or prurple right is right and wrong is wrong!!! and we should all understand that. And im sure if Jerome was black and the kid was white it would have been the same outcome if not worst!!! and for Suzanne that left a comment, the bible says” train up a child in the way he/she should go and he/she will never depart from it” but let me tell you something else you can raise your kids in the most upmost respected manner, teach them right from wrong, punish them for wrong doings but oh baby “PEER PRESSURE” is something terrible, it had nothing to do with the way she raised him, he hung out with the wrong people and was at the wrong place at the WRONG TIME!!! and lets remember he was FORCED TO DO THIS, him and the other kid thats alive it wasnt because they wanted to do it…. and if Jerome would have shot him 6 times back to back he would have been justified but thats not how it happened…. Once we all as a PEOPLE take the racisim and the emotions and personal vindetta out of the equation you will see (we) will see where the “WENT TO FAR CAME IN TO PLAY” im not trying to be an A$$ or mean but just stating my views on it.

I have lived in Oklahoma all my 50 yrs of life. I can honestly say for the first time ever. I am ashamed to be from this state that would convict a man minding his own business doing his job. FIRST DEGREEE MURDER. GIVE ME A BREAK. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS DAMN STATE . It is in sad shape . i could see at the most manslaughter mayyyybeeee , but no they have to gig the man on 1st degree murder. What a sad sad state I live in . I AM ASHAMED TO BE FROM HERE.
