From Paris to OKC: Executive chef Robert Black is headed to France
Click here for the mobile version of the above video.
Had the opportunity to interview Robert Black, executive chef and partner of A Good Egg Dining Group, a couple of weeks ago. We caught up with the busy chef at the Iron Starr Norman location.
Black is headed to France tomorrow and will chef at an exhibit there Sunday-Thursday. We have provided him with an iPod Touch to shoot video and blog while on his trip.
We hope to include some Skype interviews, carve up some fancy French video (whatever that might be) and enjoy his posts from Paris over the next few days. Should be a great event for Chef Black and some compelling content for all of us here in the 405.

This is pretty cool. I imagine my friends at Wimgo are working a similar tech for the upcoming Wimgo apps to take advantage of location-based info.

Plaza Festival
About 5,000 people attended the Plaza Festival on Saturday. Economic impact, I read, was estimated between $25,000 and $30,000. Pretty cool event. It’s the area’s biggest event of the year.
But there are monthly Friday events too.
The video above is a look back at Saturday’s Plaza Festival on 16th Street in NW OKC.
After leaving this event, it was off to the Millionaire for a Day party at the Iguana Mexican Grill. Too bad I was too late to get the winner’s moment, so the night ended atop the popular Bossa Nova At The Top at Cafe Do Brasil. Great late night apps – including alligator if that’s what you’re into.
ART on TAP at OKC Museum of Art
After shooting the Oklahoma Regatta Festival opening races, I met Angi Bruss at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. The annual ART on TAP fundraiser was well underway, featuring Born in November jamming on the roof.
Numerous beers were featured and food from local places like the Museum Cafe and McNellie’s.
Last year, the event dealt with cold and windy conditions. This year, more than 700 enjoyed the party, including on the roof where the night air revealed a brilliant view of the OKC skyline and Devon Tower construction.

Blind rowers compete at Oklahoma Regatta Festival
My friend Rob Crissinger emailed about the NewView rowing team competing in the Oklahoma Regatta Festival. They hit the Oklahoma River around 6 pm tonight, then competed in their Novice event around 6:30 pm in the first race of the night.
OGE NightSprints featured corporate teams from OPUBCO, Chesapeake, Devon, etc. Great night, great crowd, beautiful boathouses.
The Vipers finished fourth in their first heat, third in their second.
I shot this video, then lost my tripod plate in the mulch while swapping tapes. Not my best moment.
