Sharla Schooley died last week. Sister of my friend Jason Contreras, Schooley had cancer. Twice. She beat it the first time.
She also had a husband. Two children. A family. And too many friends and others affected by her tremendous life to count.
It looked like more than a thousand attended a very moving service held Saturday at Crossings Church in NW OKC.
On Sunday, Jason went through with his plan to run the inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll Dallas Half Marathon, benefiting Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Over 9,000 runners crossed the finish line.
Among them, Jason, me and our friends Stacey and Jana.
Sharla had fought cancer too much of her life. But the end still came suddenly. You never know when your last day will be.
