Sam Bradford impresses NFL scouts at Pro Day

NewsOK videographer pro Tim Money was on hand – wearing an orange shirt, no less – at Sam Bradford’s Pro Day held at the University of Oklahoma on Monday.

Money shot extensive footage of the former Sooner quarterback’s workout, held in front of NFL general managers, scouts and coaches, along with the national and local media.

You can see Bradford’s workout video above with comments from execs and former Sooners, and below hear Bradford in his own words.

RePUBlic Gastro Pub

Here’s how it works: sometimes a video request will come in via email from the newsroom to the OPUBCO Studios and I feel the need, the “right,” the hunger to personally handle the request.

That was the case this week.

I caught up with The Oklahoman’s food editor Dave Cathey and Matt Clayton for a preview and tour of RePUBlic Gastro Pub, Good Egg Dining’s latest opening. The place is spectacular inside. I’m a big fan of patios and it has one of those too, complete with flat screens, secluded from Classen.

Walls of beer.

Flat screens of over 100 inches. Several of them.

Trendy decor.

And outstanding mustard dipping sauce.

RePUBlic opens Monday. I’d recommend it from what I tasted. The burgers, wings and chicken were exceptional, and that was only a bite or so of each. Some weeks are more rough than others with this gig.

Watch the video above for a sneak peek. My tripod completely crapped out on me during this shoot, meaning the head came completely unscrewed and fell off. Fortunately the camera – Canon 7D – was already in the bag. But I came away with limited pans and moving shots, they just weren’t smooth enough to use. The Oklahoman’s David McDaniel, a big time pro, was on hand to shoot stills for NewsOK and The Oklahoman. I used some of his stills in the video because they were much better images of the food.

NMF3 preview

It’s about that time again. Downtown Norman will host the third annual Norman Music Festival in about a month, April 24-25.

Jonathan Fowler and Quentin Bomgardner stopped by the OPUBCO Studios earlier this week to preview the event. Big thanks to them for their time and having fun with the interview. Last year we taped some commercials with them, including a skit where they imitated Penn and Teller.

I thought it was funny anyway…

I can’t imagine all of the coordination that goes into putting together a musical festival, certainly not one with over 100 acts. Find more event info at wimgo.com and at normanmusicfestival.com.

By the way, the guys mention local rapper Jabee will appear at NMF3. He was in the studio today for an upcoming webisode of Static with George Lang and Tanner Herriott.

The Internet of Things

Saw this on Chris Wilson’s Fresh Peel posterous page. The vid is by IBM, but the journey from the video’s beginning to end is pretty informative.

Skyline cam looks down on Devon Tower construction

Thanks to Devon Energy’s Chip Minty and Tony Thornton, Hines’ David Moore, our new friends at Earthcam, The Oklahoman’s Steve Lackmeyer, NewsOK’s Alan Herzberger and James Duncan, a six month odyssey to provide streaming video of the Devon Tower and OKC downtown growth is live to the planet.

Did I mention David Jones and Todd Fraser from my crew?

It takes a nation sometimes but the end result is a look from 50 floors up at the ongoing progress as OKC’s tallest structure grows.

On Sunday, I caught up with Tony and Steve (see video above) to capture footage of the concrete pour and a quick interview.

Yes, it was remarkably cold Sunday from atop the parking garage directly north of the construction site.

You can access the OKC Skyline cam here.

Your job could be worse

USA Today posted a story from “Popular Science” about the ten worst jobs in science:

Armpit detective

Feces piper

Sneeze modeler

Dung curator

Doomsday fact-checker

Oceanic-snot diver

Tissue reaper

Bad-dance observer

Bean counter

Whale slasher

… AND THE BEST JOB?

Multispecies baby tickler

Clearly this has nothing to do with OPUBCO Video, but the story did make me stop, click and read. Perspective can be a good thing.
