On our NewsOK.com commercials we like to say “we’re changing the rules.” The key word is change. Today I spent eight hours in a training session, learning about managing change.
The training was based of John Kotter’s best seller “Our Iceberg Is Melting,” which applies directly to the news business and specifically to the newspaper business.
Kotter outlines eight key areas in change, starting with urgency. It’s a simple read, about 150 pages. But it’s an effective fable that you can directly apply to just about anything in life, not just business.
It was really cold in the training session though.
