Shot video of Dave Cathey judging the Martinis at the Allied Arts party last night at the Farmer’s Market near downtown Oklahoma City.
The Oklahoman’s food editor, AKA “The Food Dude” or @thefooddood on Twitter, was one of several celebrity judges tasting the best attempts from local eateries.
Other judges I recognized included former OU basketball star Kevin Bookout and Kayne Gillaspie from Project Runway fame and Norman retail. Gillaspie had a camera crew from the Discovery Channel following him around. He recently told NewsOK’s Angi Bruss the Discovery Channel may do a reality TV show on him.
Cathey judged the drink from Isis Cocktail Lounge to be the best, and the other celebs must have agreed. Isis won top honor.
Ryan Parrott from Iguana Grill told Cathey and I at the Table One taping last week that about 300 tickets had been sold.
I’m not sure 300 people were there, but the Farmer’s Market building is pretty big. It can hold a ton of people. Who knows, looked like people were having fun. Banana Seat sounded good.
Melinda and I liked the martini from Cafe do Brasil the best. And it was good to catch up with owner Ana Paixao Davis again. She said she had just returned from “working” at 2-3 restaurants in Brazil, where she goes to brush up on foods and ideas (my words).
Ana said she was bringing several new appetizers that would be soon featured on the happy hour menus at CdB. She seemed excited about the warmer weather and the return of live entertainment overlooking the OKC skyline. Aren’t we all?
Cafe do Brasil has music from Tuesday-Saturday in the bar area and outside.
Word of advice: If you haven’t tried the apps there, do so. They are really good.
