The boys behind Table One

Back in February or sometime when it was depressing and cold, I read a JD Merryweather conversation thread on Twitter with Ryan Parrott. They were chatting about the amazing Table One and how they should produce a video.

Uh yeah, so should I. So I chimed in. I didn’t know Ryan, but I had introduced myself to JD, @coopaleworks (on Twitter), after seeing on Twitter he was starting a local micro brewery and shooting a video on it.

That was in February. We shot the dinner a few weeks ago. And today, we finally sat down with Ryan, @chefrp, and Jonathon Stranger, the two culinary maestros behind Table One to get their stories on video.

Table One is a private dining experience in NW OKC. The concept is you book the dinner and let your tastebuds be amazed by the foods that Ryan and Jonathon prepare. They present each course with a description and a print out of the entire menu – at the end of the meal. The table seats 8 and the meal lasts a couple hours.

Dave Cathey, aka The Food Dude also the @thefooddood, interviewed each. Tanner Herriott, @tannerherriott, taped the interviews using a Canon 5D Mark II. Here’s an earlier post from Tanner’s blog on using the Canon.

I shot more video using a Sony HVR, I’ll post that later next week. Shot to tape and haven’t captured it yet. I also shot 45 minutes from the actual dinner. You’ll get the plate side view. And JD’s comments. Post that later too.

Cathey’s story will publish in The Oklahoman and on NewsOK on May 20. His angle is the story behind Ryan and Jonathon, their history in the Oklahoma City restaurant industry, the NY restaurant industry and even on yachts, and how they met to join forces.

I’ve had the meal, it’s amazing. Ryan and Jonathon are good guys. They really emphasize their passion for local food and local food production. Jonathon is all about the farms. They use local foods in their cooking. I like to eat.

Our hope is to produce this video over the next 10 days and produce more high end productions about the people behind the amazing things happening in Oklahoma City. There is another restaurant production we have in the works involving the Buthion boys from La Baguette fame.
